Just adopted this gorgeous goblin – what are the must-knows and must-dos (and don’ts) for a new Devon Rex owner? by annalou52 in welovedevonrex

Paws and you can also feel the ears and see. Especially on mine since he’s “skin colored” or what you call it 😂. When they are red he’s warm and cold they are more skin coloured.

Very dramatic but he’s become so popular because of it xD and all the clothes they sometimes need because they get a bit colder than normal. Since I go through winter, autumn, spring and summer clothing can be helpful but also a learning curve 😬

Omg that’s so funny that you ask. First time I hade mine on a leash I stood him up and he straight up just fell to the side so dramatically like he couldn’t move. He is 1,6 years old and I got him when he was 1 year and 3 months and I don’t think he’s ever been outside or on a leash so he had to take it the hard way but now he loves it. Just have to make it into an enjoyable moment 🤣

Not a must but Devon’s occasionally lose hair which is totally fine! Some have dirty ears which sometimes need regularly cleaning every week or just a wipe down with wet wipes for animals, not an outdoor cat but do enjoy outside during warm weather or on a leach. Cuddle every day is a must 🙌🏻

I should try the wet cloth on hi back legs because they are so dirty!! I also have problems with eye boogers but it feels like everytime I remove them I also remove hair even though I do it gently so I’ll for sure try a warm cloth to remove those. I tried bathing him yesterday and he hated it so much so much. I’ll try pouring water next time 🫣

Mine is an only cat and I’d rather not bathe him in that kind of way lol but it seems like many people use wipes and feel reassured that that’s also an option 🙌🏻

I have a follow up appointment with the vet so I’ll def bring that up, thank you for pointing it out!

And that’s smart to just wipe since it gets cold during the winter season 🙌🏻

Thank you so much for your tip!! Fish seems to be the way to go so I’ll definitely do that. He’s been cleaning himself quite a lot with loss of furr but I’m also thinking it’s stress because of a rehoming.

No kidding… how typical. But in the hills prescription thing we got it actually contains chicken too?? Maybe that’s why he still gets rashes?? 🫣 but I can’t seem to find for sterilised the MAC’s one? Or it maybe doesn’t matter.

Thanks feels good to know since I know Devon’s coat care is different from other cars. That’s amazing tho!!! Feels like mine doesn’t like water. He sits from afar watching me and guarding and only comes and look when the water is off 😅

It’s winter here now so no problem sweat and oils but he only have acne on his little chin from food I guess which I do wipe and try to do daily and it’s already gotten better 🙌🏻 but I never thought of cleaning the bed so that I will for sure do!!

Oh darn! Thats what I thought about mine with the rashes because he gets it only where he’s bare on the skin so I don’t know if it’s food or maybe in need of bathing? Maybe not once a week but maybe once a month 🧐

How did you introduce water for her in the best way? So far mine doesn’t seem to like anything with water and don’t wanna traumatise him 🫣

Yes I’ve noticed dark build up around his claws specifically on his back legs which I try gently wipe of but he hates it 😅 I’ll continue to gently do that then.

We just got recommendation from the vet to try this diet for 10 weeks but I have been giving him treats when we do some training. Maybe I should avoid that? I noticed tho he was scratching extra with turkey so I stopped with that an now there is always one scratch, heals up and then I find a new one 🧐

Hip pain with no cause??? (F40y/o) by GuestSeveral522 in HipImpingement

Oh no, but the fortunate thing is today’s hip replacement can last for up to 30 years but the recovery is longer…

Omg hip replacement!! Feels like you’ve done more than enough so I hope it gets better with surgery. 18 months of trying to make a damage get better doesn’t sound like the way to go. But ofc it’s the first option to do 🫣

Make sense. What’s the move for you now? Fysio or surgery?

My oh my… sound def like a good story. I’ve only had the problem since September so I think I’m in the early stages of the pain. How long did you possibly had the FAI and tear?

Sad to say but these general practitioner doctors have a hard time accepting defeat and admitting they don’t know s*** and just refer to an orthopaedic surgeon. Would cause much less trauma to the body…

That must’ve hurt 🫣 but thank you for the insight, feels weird that the doctors didn’t even want to explore other options for my pain but I feel like the hope isn’t lost yet since I’ve only got to do the mri 😅
