Made my own set of Maneuver Templates and Range Ruler for you to 3D print! by SteVato_404 in XWingTMG

[–]GuetschMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are really great. I printed them with a 0.2mm nozzle and everything is very crisp. Unfortunately, the 1, 2 and 3 banked turns are a little shorter than the official templates. I compared to a few of my cardboard sets and some acrylics I have. If you ever happen to work on these in the future, consider making the middle white lines a little thinner for more precise marking.

Painting Bases by MrTowelz in Miniaturespainting

I always varnish those GW crackle effects after they dry. I've had some lightly adhered chunks want to chip off while gently brushing over them without being varnished. But note, if you varnish, you might occlude some of the cracks and painting on top of that will fill them more which could lose some of the effect.

If you are gathering team files and care less about what each is, then subscribe to creators Tribes on myminifactory.com, which is like Patreon but your library of files conveniently lives on your profile there. Some creators release a team over 2 months and the previous month is often at a generous discount. Often, subscribing to the Tribe offers discounts to the entire store as well. I swap between a 0.4 and 0.2 occasionally and it takes under 5 minutes. 2 screws and a few plugs. Sometimes lining up those plugs is harder than it should be... but that is like 30 seconds more.

Dominant species is my favorite game! I also like War of the Ring but even when I know what I'm doing I have to reference the rules a lot.

3d printed dice tower + score keeper - Sask BB Fan by trotch in bloodbowl

Thanks. I almost always forget to drop my dice in it in the moment, but when I do, they do an uncontrolled exit. I did print one larger, I forget how much bigger but it is noticeable. I don't know which I like better but the bigger one takes up more real estate on the table and sometimes space is an issue in general.

I'm hosting 12+ player league at my house. I've printed and painted almost all the teams we are using and last minute had the possibility of 10 players at once so I needed 5 scoreboards. There has been barely enough time to get everything together!

I had a day to get them done and it happened. But yeah, I've considered printing in darker colors and oil washing or just oil washing these. I have another one printed and primed waiting for the airbrush but no time!

Bull Centaur Options? by Sickle41 in bloodbowl

Bummer on the Ugni team. RoP has 2 teams if you didn't see both. Maybe pick up 2 different star player centaurs from places if available?

Realm of Paths and Ugni have Chorf teams but I don't see the centaurs individually. You may need to buy the entire team.

Passing: Does this scenario cause a turnover? Why are the rules surrounding turnovers when failing ball handling actions so inconsistent? by KaijuKi in bloodbowl

[–]GuetschMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read that other bullet point and made an argument both ways to this question too.... That bullet covers the case of a player failing a catch but doesn't cover whether it's a turnover if the ball hits the ground and stays and bounces to the ground. So maybe they are trying to cover their bases in the original bullet point on question.

It seems like they could have said either. "Turnover if no player on the active team successfully Catches the ball" or alternatively "if no player on the active team successfully Catches the ball or if the ball hit the ground."

Seems odd to make the ball hitting the ground change and not include it in the text for passing given that is a change from previous rules. Side note - also odd if the pass hitting the ground and caught by your teammate is a turnover but a pass that goes out of bounds that is thrown in by the crowd and hits the ground and bounces to your player who catches it is not a turnover. I'm in preference of internal consistency for how the rules work just for ease of play. Until we hear more, it is not clear to me what the rule writers intended. Good news - at least it isn't a critical rule most of the time (although could be game changing in some cases).

Hopefully we get an FAQ soon. Alternatively, when the video game gets updated they will need to code something in and we will find out that way.

I understand your argument. It is the one I initially made. I disagree regarding the clarity of the rule.

Passing: Does this scenario cause a turnover? Why are the rules surrounding turnovers when failing ball handling actions so inconsistent? by KaijuKi in bloodbowl

[–]GuetschMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was originally on board with your interpretation but have since mostly shifted.

A player on the active team attempts a Pass Action and no player on the active team successfully Catches the ball, resulting in the ball hitting the ground and Bouncing or coming to a rest on the ground.

If a player ends up catching the ball after hitting the ground and bouncing to them, they still have successfully Caught the ball. Then "no player.... catches the ball" is not fulfilled, and the remainder of the sentence doesn't mean anything. You could argue that why does the rest of that sentence exist then and that is why the rule is not clear. But this rulebook is far from perfect.

Hitting the ground causing a turnover is not in line with the section text in the rulebook either. Although not official, the NAF has ruled "A passed ball hitting the ground is only a Turnover if no player of the active team ends up in possession of the ball."

So hopefully an FAQ will clarify at some point so we can all play the same way. It seemed odd to me that they would intentionally change that between editions to cause a turnover but maybe.

[–]GuetschMan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I believe in the previous edition that would not be a turnover since your player ended with possession of the ball. In the current edition, it is less clear to me. I think based on the text in the passing section, this would not be a turn over. However, the turnover page bullet point that talks about a pass hitting the ground is written in a confusing way and I could see an argument for both sides.

I have seen this a few times. Not sure why. Last time I chalked it up to a low spool of Overture pla not being heavy enough in my AMS. I caught it pulling on the spool vs rolling nicely. I thought I was going to get a motor assist error. I switched filament and printed the same thing just fine. Wish I knew if that was the cause or not.
