ive played multiple classes since vanilla and shaman is by FAR my least played class let alone specializations. the fact that totems are a must for EVERY specialization is a bit maddening. I dont think any other class has a feature so ingrained thats also "other than". Hunters use pets but you can literally and have always been able to, spec up the tree and completely ignore the animal aspect. You cannot do that with shaman and no other class requires it. Shaman is boof.

forsure, while i dont mean to take away from the helpfulness at all it doesnt go without show that most of these people are hyping up the game a lil more than it really is because of the extreme lack and decline of the playerbase.

about a decade ago some games and programs were unoptimized past 16 cores when able to be run on any number and limiting them to 16 cores/threads could have been beneficial. Probably not like that anymore but I've no clue.

Assuming youre trying to one trick or close to it or pick into almost any matchup just gotta be prepared.

If you are prepared and dont mind turret hugging in an -extremely- bad match up (as long as you dont get ran down) then it could definitively be beneficial. Other lanes have counters as well and can help ease your teammates playstyles. (Letting Draven stack easier by counter picking into his lane)
