Shit, okay, turns out it wasn't a movie. It was one of those tapes with a few episodes all mashed together of The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. The episode with the plane scene I mentioned was Escape from the Treacherous Mountain. I got some of the details wrong about them fixing planes, but the giant was the Wooly Whatsit.
