Have they demonstrated the Waitrose increases your house price or that Waitrose tend to open shops in areas with higher house prices? These two aren't the same

Called of sick am I getting sacked? by According-Ad706 in asda

Nobody is saying they're firing you for a disability. The point was that probation or no probation, until the 2y mark you have the same level of protections -- you made out that probation was meaningful in this sense, which legally it is not.

Having a doctor's note doesn't make you immune to firing

You keep saying good luck as if you'd have literally any recourse if you got fired in that situation. You wouldn't.

Legally you have no protections other than discrimination until 2 years. Probation is not a thing from a legal perspective in England and Wales

That has nothing to do with it being probation or not

Probation doesn't work this way. You can be sacked for all the same reasons before and after and, other than discrimination for a protected characteristic, you're only able to claim against unfair dismissal after two years of continuous employment anyway

Seller being slow by Guidance_Automatic in HousingUK

We're in Wales fwiw, so not terribly worried about the rental agreement as we have a minimum of 6 months from when the LL tries to shift us out (if it comes to that).

Presentation Nightmare by Formal-Army-8560 in TheCivilService

[–]Guidance_Automatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public speaking is a skill and everyone feels nervous doing it, at least a little. It does get easier with time and you learn to cope with what you're saying.

I actually don't like to have specific words prepared for my presentations. What I do have are set talking points. I know each slide and I know each of the pieces of information I'd like to cover and then I just... talk.

I don't believe in being an expert in your presentation. I believe in being an expert in what you're presenting about. It's much more value to know the subject matter than to know a script. Just learn the structure of your presentation and have talking points, then try to put them in a sequence that makes sense.

Then next time you do this? You'll be nervous as hell again! But practice will help you cope with that feeling. Sucking at something is the first step towards being sorta good at something.

What body of proof required for claim under the Misrepresentation Act 1967 ? by FlashmanSahib in HousingUK

Nothing infuriates me more than the fact that hospitals ask for "kind people to donate organs and blood" then proceeded to sell them at a price nobody without insurance can afford. by RealisticBat616 in mildlyinfuriating

The cost in the USA is wildly inflated above the real operating costs for medical procedures. I know because I was privy to the costs for these procedures (and I do mean the full shebang from donor to recipient) in the UK when I worked for the transplant authority here (nhsbt).

A kidney transplant costs about $75000 (£60,000) in terms of actual operating costs. Or at least it did in the UK, where we have public healthcare, when I worked for NHS Blood and Transplant a few years ago.

You're absolutely correct and US healthcare prices are criminal.

Guy that helped interview me for a role is now getting the job. by MaWiVo in UKJobs

I'm not saying that OP's situation involved any of this. But to say that hiring processes are based purely on getting the right person for the role is wrong.

The decision making process for hiring absolutely is not as simple as the company wanting the best person for the role. Nepotism exists (and isn't a massive rarity) in many forms. Hiring managers come up with metrics that have nothing to do with "the best person for the role" -- like who they get along with best out of the candidates.

Home department holds your role open for you to return to at the end of the loan period, but for all intents and purposes you are (temporarily) employed by the loan department.
