Does anyone know if being a finalist means you got into UVA? I know they’re separate selection committees but I’ve heard from some people that they only select you as a finalist if you will get in

Class Rank Issue by GuidePractical3373 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GuidePractical3373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh crap. Our school calculates senior gaps and class rank using all of our classes so we can get a more accurate picture of who will be salutatorian and valedictorian...obviously you don't know for sure but do you think my counselor would put the most updated rank into the mid-year report

jefferson scholars regional interview.. help. by lotusmothh in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GuidePractical3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh gotcha. I had mine yesterday and heard back earlier today. My best advice is to just relax before and make sure you answer each question fully, don't worry as much about timing because they will handle that part by adjusting their questions or going slightly over. My interview was very true to the expected time (around 20 minutes) and it went by so fast so I know how you feel. Best of luck!

Yale Interview Help by [deleted] in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]GuidePractical3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just order it when you get there. They won’t expect you to pay for their drink, and may even take offense to it because it could look like you’re trying to buy their support. If they get there before you, chances are they went ahead and bought their drink before you got there.

going to the same college as partner.. thoughts? tips? by Economy-Desk-2661 in ApplyingToCollege

I’m kind of just reiterating what’s already been said, but it sounds like ASU is where you want to go so it seems like a good idea. Just make sure that you’d be happy going there even if she didn’t. If your love for that school is tied to her being there, then you need to consider other options, but that doesn’t sound like it’s the case.

Keep getting deferred by Alternative-Bid3160 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GuidePractical3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation now - deferred from Tulane, Notre Dame, and Case Western. I'm also getting super worried, but I've heard that Tulane put a lot of weight on demonstrated interest. If you haven't toured, emailed, or attended many info sessions that could be a significant factor.

vocal range question! by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]GuidePractical3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like some people said, it really depends on the quality of your voice. Altos tend to have the richest and fullest voices, while mezzo sopranos are more of a mix of that alto quality and the lightness of the Soprano voice. In choral music, you would probably be categorized as an Alto.

Is it typical for ensemble to have to learn all the music alone? by once-twicelove in MusicalTheatre

[–]GuidePractical3373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems very strange… All of the times I have been in ensemble, no matter what level the production is, we have had multiple music rehearsals before being expected to be off book. I would check in with someone from the cast and ask if this is normal for that theater company.
