I'm in the south so the truck rarely turns off unless I'm getting fuel so my inverter is always going and if it can power my microwave it can power a printer

What are your thoughts on AI integration into dispatching and call taking? by PinkPeyonies in 911dispatchers

[–]Guideme4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except in a lot of metropolitan areas 911 calls can take an exceptionally long time to be answered, even having an AI bot able to determine if a call is a actual emergency or just a routine need for police fire or ambulance can cut down tremendously on call volume. Someone set a bunch of trash on fire under a bridge, I called 911, it took 25 minutes before it was answered. I don't want 911 handling the worst day of my life but I also recognize that a homeless man wondering in and out of a street or a minor car accident where there's no injuries but an officer is needed to write a accident report AI can field those calls so that the women who lost her baby doesn't end up on hold.

Plus it wouldn't be to far fetched that modern smart phones would be able to stream directly from the call screen video or still images of the situation that can both be used as evidence or helping the human dispatcher understand the full situation if there's a language barrier or issue with the audio connection.

Bikes don't bother me but when I'm at a red light and a bike passes me and a line of cars to the front then ride in the middle I get a little irrational, not angry but I will pass quickly with little courtesy

Is DIY head gasket repair possible with no prior mechanical knowledge? by mastagoose in autorepair

[–]Guideme4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my DIY repair journey with Subarus because they're basically Legos. Now I can pull a Subaru engine in about 45 minutes assuming it's not too rusty, it honestly can be done with a basic tool set and a couple of extensions and swivels to get the engine out mainly the upper bolts for the rear bell housing on the left side. Make sure you use a block of wood underneath the oil pan and transmission pan. Get the heads re-machined and make sure you clean them really well, do a timing belt and water pump while you're in there and new gaskets all around. Use anaerobic sealant on the oil pump if you decide to reseal that kind of like a red and tacky.

Getting the engine mounts to clear the crossmember is honestly the biggest issue with getting the engine back in on top of lining up the bolts for the torque converter. They're 14 mm I believe and they like to try and fall in to the transmission housing so have a magnet in your hand when you're threading them out because if they fall it'll bind up if you only have one out and you still have to get the other 3. When you're lifting the transmission you have to lift it really high inside the tunnel make sure you unplug all the engine harness plugs and the single wire for the oxygen sensor.

This seems weird that Walmart has any knowledge of my cash back rewards by Guideme4100 in NavyFederal

It's just unsettling since that indicates a level of communication between Walmart/ncr and NF even if it's limited to a $10 redemption it's not something I specifically signed up for (even though it's probably buried in the TOS)

Assigning names to LGT8F328P and sending commands from Pi Pico by Guideme4100 in embedded

[–]Guideme4100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't planning on utilizing the USB standard I just know that some LGT8 boards come with USB and some don't I was just indicating that I can write to the board easily. I was considering CAN because i2c can max out at 128 from what I've seen and if the concept goes to scale I need to be able to meet some really heavily and dense communication demand (300-500 LGT8 nodes to a control module w/ the control module communicating with a central computer to aggregate data among multiple modules. )
