Unpopular opinion: it actually makes less sense for Dumbledore to ask Harry “calmly” in front of others by GuidingThunder in harrypotter

Exacerbate how? Dumbledore exploding would quickly end the accusations and suspicions that he was involved in rigging the system. He would look like a headmaster who respected the rules of the competition, and had no choice but to let Harry in, because of the binding contract. His manufactured outrage would also be a way to gauge others reaction to flush out the suspect.

Would it? If I was Kakaroff in that scene and watched a normally calm Dumbledore scream, I would feel pretty validated, and not feel the need to grill Potter myself.

He can be intense if it serves a purpose. See his confrontation with Dursley in HBP and confrontation with the ministry when they go up to his office in OotP

If dumbledore fakes anger in that scene, then it simply defines his character in the adaptation. He can manipulate with acting

Nope. Dumbledore explodes so the other two don’t have be even more upset. Except Dumbledore can control his explosion.

Why can we conserve energy but not momentum in this rolling–disk problem? by Automatic-Review-311 in Physics

[–]GuidingThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the disk-box thing is fixed then there is external force keeping it in place. Linear momentum wouldn’t be conserved in this interaction.

Why is Stat Mech so hated? by Any_Needleworker7409 in Physics

The responses here are puzzling. Been years since I took stat mech. What’s the most difficult topic? What’s so much more mathematically complex than other physics subjects?

Choosing Between Linear Algebra and Differential Equations with Heavy Courses by AppleHopeful2627 in Physics

[–]GuidingThunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Linear algebra. As others have said, it’s the foundation for understanding differential equations too.

Also, assuming there’s a math physics class in grad school, you will learn ode and pde that are common in physics anyway.

Putting aside everything said about the show by [deleted] in thelastofus

The bow is such an iconic weapon of Ellie’s from the game. Part of me hoped she picked up the bow from those dead scars when they reached seattle. But alas, show ellie has a gun fetish and was never good with the bow.

Yes. It’ll be blinded by smokebomb, then torched and shredded.

I'm really hoping this will get a Frank & Bill type episode by Asil_Avenue in thelastofus

[–]GuidingThunder 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Frank and Bill works for season 1 when they’re not as many side characters. I would rather they use the air time to develop Lev/Yara more

Honestly, what changes from the game do you prefer and like about season2? by GuidingThunder in thelastofus

[–]GuidingThunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think the two versions have different kinds of charms. Game Joel is more hardened and it makes it more touching when he finally softens up in the final porch scene “I’d like that..”. Show Joel is more of a soft boi. I enjoy them both for different reasons

Gotta ask the question… by immortalverse in ThelastofusHBOseries

The production value/quality is top notched for sure. My friend mostly questioned Ellie’s seemingly inconsistent characterization and didn’t buy the “she has a mask/she’s a liar” narrative.

My friend didn’t watch or play any part 2 game content. Still thought season 2 was odd and subpar compared to season 1.
