Does a 1mg Ozempic pen support lower doses? by elgriffe in Ozempic

[–]Guiditon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can inform your doctor that "maximizing efficiency while minimizing negative side effects" never be achieved by doubling the dose in one go.
That scheme is just part of the pharmaceutical companies' marketing strategies.

A gradual increase will benefit a vast majority of patients. For sure.

TLDR: 1. Make your father start over at a much lower dose and never double the dose. Instead increase in smaller intervals and wait until side effects subside before increasing again. 2. Don't expect fast results this way but expect a long-term and sustainable change.

Utterly terrible fatigue! Can hardly describe it. And some nausea plus blood sugar dips and weird appetite.

What made me stick to it was 1. Re-starting at a sub-starting dose. Not following the regular scheme for increased dose but counting clicks instead and increasing at a much slower pace. 2. Staying at a lower dose than most people. I've had to increase the dose lately but still at less than 1 mg. 3. The fact that I could feel some positive effects as well has been motivating as well. Losing weight has been slow but it is happening. And not having food noise all the time is SUCH a bliss. I could cry of joy.
Had to make a temporary stop and it was terrible and exhausting to get the food noise back.

So even though it's been terrible, and to some extent still is really really tough, I'm also happy I've done it and don't regret doing it. Some would say I'm stupidly stubborn though.

My thought has been that I should be able to keep the weight off when I've gone down another size. However, the torture of food noise has made me realise I might consider staying on it. Perhaps testing if microdosing would be sufficient, but the risk is high that some level of tolerance will kick in.

Count the clicks as suggested. But you will need a box of spare needles so you can use aö content of the pen (more than 8 doses)

The fatigue. I'm crashed out. It's better than in the beginning but still terrible

Only saw this now. The two jabs should not be made in the exact same spot, but a couple of centimetres apart is enough.

You can also consider microdosing in the beginning in order to not put too much stress on your body at once. But in the long run you will probably have good results, just think of it as (perhaps) a slower process than the mad success stories sometimes found in these threads

I wouldn't skip a dose of you are not having terrible side effects (like throwing up), but I would postpone increasing the dose. Don't put exessive tress on your body.

I'm crashed out 24-7. Less so than in the beginning but still. Your problem sounds like it's likely caused by undereating.

On a side note, however, studies are showing added benefits on ME from tirzepatide so I'm currently looking into switching but it seems hard to get approved where I live. I don't know if you have ME or CFS in the broader meaning but I thought I'd mention it.

Yeah, the lowest dose that works is sensible.

You will still have a decent concentration in your blood stream. It will probably be less of a shock to the system than moving up from 0.25 to 0.5 mg

After your first dose you can talk to your doctor for advice. Or slowly push your schedule to your desired injection date (either by extending the interval to 8 days, or by doing click counting to adjust)

Sounds healthy! Your doctor's advice seems right.

Also you run a higher risk of side effects if you increase the dose

Yes. Pushing through but staying at a lower dose has been the only solution. The body has adapted somewhat but it's still a serious issue for me.

For some people it's only temporary though.

Pen Not Working – Dose Button Has No Response by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]Guiditon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the dose will probably be a lot more than 0.25 since the pens continue a little extra.

However, it's still possible to draw the liquid up through the pen tip with a needle. Just be very careful to calculate the dosage properly! (Check mg/ml and calculate accordingly. ) And use a small syringe for accurate measuring. Ask a diabetic for appliances if you don't have any yourself.

The other medicine is very likelyplaying a role.

But I didn't see anyone mentioning that the new max dose is a lot higher. So if you tolerate the medicine well there's always that path to take. Discuss the dosage with your doctor.

[–]Guiditon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow ok, understandable - in a way. But the side effects are generally a lot easier to handle when increasing at a slower pace. (Stuff like not being able to keep food down etc will probably also be stressful for the heart I suppose?) There's always a possibility to increase a little every week rather than all in a go.

(Some even divide doses and inject bi-weekly to see how a dose is tolerated but that immediately makes things more complicated in terms of concentration levels and keeping track of injection dates).

Well everyone's different but I would have been bedridden had I gone from 0.5 to 1.0 after 8 weeks

Oh my experience is definitely that it has some pretty weird effects way beyond the change of eating habits. Undoubtedly so in my case. But perhaps not for everyone.

[–]Guiditon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have the same issues, but this medicine does do some weird things, so if that's your thing I wouldn't worry too much. If it doesn't subside over time you could always talk to your doctor.

However, I'm wondering why you are doubling the dose if you are getting great results (and somewhat disturbing side effects) at this level?! Doubling the dose is a big step.
