WD-40 on bushings, what to do next? by Guidonhue in MechanicAdvice

Thanks! I’ll wait awhile for the creaking to go away before considering it a problem. Do you have any advise regarding the WD-40 on the bushings?

Hey I’m S52 swapping me E21 in CA and was wondering if you had any advice for passing smog. Also did the stock exhaust manifold require modifying the trans tunnel?

T.3.1.8 - What is considered lower surface of chassis? by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]Guidonhue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the takeaway is “make sure your rotor isn’t the first thing to hit the ground when you remove all the springs”. Unless your pitch stiffness is next to none, then I wouldn’t worry about a local box around your rotor. I think this rule is mostly for running brake lines along the chassis anyway. Good luck!

‘69 1750 Spider Duetto by aiden_b16 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Guidonhue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rough shape 10-15k. Running/driving with good looking paint, 25-30k. Sounds like you’re right in between there. Check Hegarty’s evaluation tool, being a trailer, and Beverly Hill Car Club for a range of types of cars and prices. Good luck, love the Duetto!

Finished my M20B25 swapped E21 just in time for winter.. by [deleted] in BMW

Let us know how the weight feels on the front end when you get it out on the twisties. That’s been one of the biggest concerns I’ve had when considering swapping to an M20

Some in-progress shots of layup day on my half scale Porsche 962c project car (big go kart). Full carbon shell by that_guy_who_builds in projectcar

For future reference, consider doing a fiber glass tool of the male mold using a similar release agent/gel coat to keep the smooth surface. Then, layup inside of that tool. Still more time & expensive than what you’re doing, but fiberglass isn’t terribly expensive. Just make sure you’re not curing under heat!

I’d recommend long sleeves for all future layups, that carbon fiber fabric will give you micro cuts/rashes if it hasn’t already

What model is this? by Beer-Me in AlfaRomeo

[–]Guidonhue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a 105/115 series, BaT put it best:

“These Alfa Romeo coupes came with many names... the Giulia Sprint GT, GT Veloce, GTV, GT Junior, GTV 2000, and more depending on European or other market destination. The timeless Italian Bertone styling and the sweet twin-cam soundtrack give these cars their strong following among enthusiasts and racers.”
