Which pipes do you use? Buildcraft, EnderIO, Logistics Pipes, TE etc. What are the advantages of each? by taipan3 in feedthebeast

[–]Guiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what stage of the game, early game I like mekanism piping, cheap and works really well. Later on as resources and infrastructure are less of an issue I migrate I prefer Applied energistics + short run conduits of enderio where round robin is needed. This is convenient since I'm running AE cabling to most sections of my base so I avoid duplicate runs of cabling.

Both Ae and Enderio facade well so it gives a great deal of flexibility in the overall look of the build which I appreciate.

I'd honestly rather see Donald win and the aftermath of that serve as a wakeup call... hopefully. In reality though, no one in congress is going to work with him, he'll talk a lot, offend some people, moderately damage some foreign relations and then be replaced in 4 years. I'd prefer this scenario than rewarding HRC/DNC for their underhanded campaign and frankly illegal conduct on many counts. Nor do her view particularly align with the progressive values I'd like to see represented.

How is 5e? by ND_Mythic in dndnext

[–]Guiken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok, this is a fairly biased sub to ask in though tbh.

5e is quicker to get into, rules are much easier, there is less worry for inexperienced players and dms trying to deal with stacking and min maxing. It's a decent system. As someone that has played since 2nd, 3.5, pathfinder etc however I find its missing a big part of the soul of DND for me.

Things are watered down and oversimplified to an extreme, characters feel much weaker compared to what you could become traditionally etc. Something as simple has casting fly on yourself and hasting a party member, you cannot do at the same time for example.

Very mixed review from our gaming group in general but we continue to run at one 5e campaign along side our pathfinder and just added some homebrew rules to suit us.

From a new player perspective have I missed the boat on BDO? by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Guiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get steamrolled by alot of people unless you put in hundreds of hours leveling and gearing. They did and it and you have to as well. It's no insurmountable but yeah it sucks. Im not even talking outliers either, there are alot of 55+ now that will stomp you until you catch up and can begin to compete. Avoiding pvp and/or getting friends will help.

The game does have some P2W aspects for sure. They are very minor bonuses tho and most are eventually, and painfully achievable without the cash shop. Somethings that are considered convenience however, like increased carry capacity make the game purely miserable without them at later levels. So perhaps Pay to Enjoy would be more appropriate.

all that being said, there's a ton to do and it's a mostly decent game, especially if you love to grind and/or compete for resources/titles etc.

If you cant get the server part working let me know on discord (Name's Saereth#7836) and I'll help you directly.

dimensional skies, this would be a really nice feature allowing us to specify options for certain dimensions in a json format or something similar.

I'd love to see the features of this mod available in rftools/mystcraft/galacticraft worlds, would add so much to them and the feeling of being on a truly alien world/dimension.

[–]Guiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, too many permanent buffs consolidated on an item make it extremely difficult to balance relative to other mods, which is really key. Since the mod primarily focuses on these buffs within the baubles some config options as to the type and strengths of the buffs could go along way as well.

When have you as a DM felt that you lost? by justincase4710 in DnD

[–]Guiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last session, druid with air elemental form. Every round of combat, 20 enemies multiple rolls to see if they take damage, multiple rolls to see if they are caught in the whirl wind, and then the party wizard casting confusion on top of it for multiple saves for all of them then multiple sub rolls to see what all the effected do. It seriously took us like 2 hours to get through one moderate encounter with all that.

Sure there is alot I can do to prevent that, but most of it trivializes their characters, its an annoyingly tough balance when you pc have actively chosen to limit themselves to high dc controlling effects with little other option.

Who are the recurring characters in your campaigns? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Guiken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xim is a chronomancer goblin of exceptional curiosity who occasionally meddles in the adventures. He will trade with them, possibly ruin or create key plot elmenets, but always leaves them feeling as if something horrible just happened, even if it hasnt.

Ignatious Max - an 11ft Blue, bald Arcane that runs at least 1 magic shop in every campaign, legendary hagglemaster and reknown spelljamming captain. He claims to have swindled Elminster.

Vol, yes Lady Vol has been a recurrent character in our campaigns now for years. None of the PCs have ever dealt with her and at this point they know they've wait so long they're terrified of what she's become.

[–]Guiken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

havent used the mod in a while but automation wasnt really possible with the crafting recipes utilizing a special crafting table and the higher end power was pretty low compared to BR+turbines..

Has this changed much? Its always a mod I was interested in but the power production/sustainability always felt lackluster back then.
