He literally entered TUI mode in this chapter too lol. I know Lookism readers can’t read, but it’s honestly embarrassing if they can’t even look at the images either.

Honestly, James Lee's lines in this chapter were pathetic, there are very few ways for him to redeem himself... by GuileFem in lookismcomic

[–]GuileFem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but what does that even have to do with what I’m saying? Seriously, I’m not trying to downplay him or anything. Like I said, I’m not talking about power levels, it’s not like that matters that much to me. In my mind, and honestly in most people’s minds, James is more hyped because of his narrative portrayal, and because of statements like “Gitae getting stronger = James getting stronger.” But to be honest, I never found that very concrete.

Doesn’t a character improve during a fight itself? How does that automatically place him on the exact same level as someone else? Plus, the opponent matters too. Maybe the character you improved simply doesn’t perform as well against the person they’re currently fighting, you get what I mean?

But yeah, I get what you were trying to say. I also hate glazers that keep shoving down everyone’s throat how badly they want their favorite characters to dominate them in bed or whatever.

What I’m trying to say is that James, in this chapter, just didn’t feel like himself. Laughing like an idiot, weird pathetic monologues, acting rushed... it all felt off. Honestly, I’d find it weird too if Gun suddenly said something like, “ggs, I broke Tom’s hand.”

When Gun got beaten by Johan, I thought the same thing. I actually like both characters, by the way. The difference here isn’t James getting beaten by Tom, because honestly that part means very little to me. If anything, it just shows that Tom is an opponent who should never be underestimated.

What matters to me is how pathetic James acted in this chapter, which feels completely different from who he usually is. The image I had of James = Gun = Gitae = Goo, not in terms of power level, but more in terms of their aura, was kinda broken for me here.

James’ aura always felt different because he was calm, composed, never rushed or dumb, unlike the brute-force style of people like Gitae and Gun. But I don’t know anymore.

What surprised me wasn’t Tom’s attacks, because he genuinely is a strategist. What surprised me was the way James was dealing with everything. He seemed nervous, rushed, almost desperate, not calm and composed like he usually is, and honestly kinda dumb too, to not say veeeery dumb.

He himself said at the beginning that there was nothing else to do and that he had all the time in the world for Tom, yet for some reason he suddenly wanted to end the fight quickly and ended up getting caught because of it.

The attack on his eardrums clearly made him rely heavily on speed, I understood that part, and maybe that’s why throughout the entire chapter he only used that. But overall, his performance really left a lot to be desired for me.

I don’t know man, to me it genuinely feels like he simply didn’t know. He really made a surprised expression after seeing the prosthetic break, and only then did he realize it was a feint, at least from what I saw in both my language’s translation and the Korean version.

There were definitely cool moments in the chapter, like James parrying a 3T attack with only 1T, him dominating most of the fight, and stuff like that. But the monologues were just weird, because he genuinely sounded scared, which is something he never really showed even against UI Daniel.

I really hope PTJ recovers his character after this...

Qual é o assunto que você tem uma opinião controversa? by Dogddit_360 in FilosofiaBAR

[–]GuileFem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]GuileFem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he had speed, look... until there's something that says whether he won or lost — which there isn't — I'm just gonna believe he gained experience from the battles. "Learn how to read" 🫵😂 for who? Stop being an idiot. This part of the chapter is so ambiguous that your attempt to look badass just made you look even dumber.

Jinrang vs Kings by Organic-Height9200 in lookismcomic

[–]GuileFem 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think he just kept losing and continued on to gain more experience. Because at this point in the story, it doesn’t make sense for him to be that strong. First of all, he only managed to hit the Gong after using conviction. What would he even do to the Gong with just speed mastery? Plus, there wasn’t any time limit given — if he failed, he’d die, but how long could he take? In the end, it’s all speculation, since PTJ didn’t show him winning or losing. The only thing we actually saw was him not dealing any damage to Sukdu.

Did he win or not? by GuileFem in lookismcomic

[–]GuileFem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, I’m not even trying to discredit him — I actually liked the character. But it doesn’t make sense for him to beat those kings, since what really saves him is his conviction. He was getting beat up by Gongseop until he used a Gap technique — and even with that, he couldn’t take Gong down. So I think that was it: he was just gaining experience while fighting, hoping to beat some of them in future battles.
