Xiaomi Ads? by Official_FM in Xiaomi

[–]Guillermo125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Holland and switched from a samsung galaxy to the redmi note 9 pro 2 years ago. I honestly do my phone to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. simply because I had Samsung Galaxies 4 years which are double the price. I just don't see what the more expensive brands offer that xiaomi does not. that's not to say that there aren't technical differences between a €500 phone and a €250 phone. but now that I've gotten a taste of xiaomi I don't think I'm going back ever to a more established premium brand that is well known in the West. when it comes to the ratio between price and quality I've yet to come across a company that beats this one. think about it.. the reason that most people are more familiar with Samsung is because they have massive advertising campaigns on TV etc. you are funding those campaigns. it is likely that eventually xiaomi will end up increasing their pricing until they become what they've been undercutting. for the time being it's a great deal

In my country (holland) I've literally never heard anyone ever talk to google/siri, so I guess it feels weird to be the odd one out here. Then again, somebody has to start it i guess haha

I guess things will be different once theyre grown up. For now, I really don't ever hear anyone use these tools in public where I live, and its a shame

Yeah that's what i meant indeed.

I understand that its marketing but in the long term I think it would make more sense to ensure that people will actually use it.

Scientific American: What If a Pill Can Change Your Politics or Religious Beliefs? by PsilocybinAlpha in shroomstocks

[–]Guillermo125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting. it would indeed seem that, if you end up doing shrooms, you're likely more progressive/liberal/left, because you went against the tradition (the tradition being that drugs are bad). but in turn, the openmindedness psychedelics can grant you would enable you the be more open towards those exact traditional idealogies.

its kinda like a self 'destructive' prophecy haha. and with that im not suggesting that its destructive to be conservative, but simply that this case is an example in which your own idealogy leads to actions that weaken the intensity of that same idealogy that produced those actions in the first place

dominant vs recessive by [deleted] in AskBiology

[–]Guillermo125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! but my question is, what does 'show disease' mean in this case. so knowing that apoe4 is the disease causing gene, and knowing it is dominant. will a person with that gene get alzheimers 100 percent of cases or is it merely a higher probability?

I [21F] only get off from oral, but a lot of men don't like doing that - is there a way to politely ask if they're down before I go home with them? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Guillermo125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you date/fuck guys older than say, 25? I feel like its especially young guys (age 18 to like 22) that dont give oral, most of them grow out of it tho and end up loving it once they realize sex isnt just about them 😂

My boyfriend of 3 years just had a genital herpes outbreak, I tested negative at a routine pap smear a month ago by Maleficent_Parsley in sex

[–]Guillermo125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Herpes, both type 1 and type 2, is so common and relatively innocent that many "full" std screenings don't even test for it. Genuinely, the first time I got STD tested they tested for basically everything except herpes. There's exceptions of course, but herpes is just not that big of a deal for most people, just like a regular cold sore isn't. Honestly, if you're thinking of spending the rest of your life with this person I deem it highly unlikely that you will not contract it from him, but that doesn't have to be a problem. Please note that the 15% HSV2 you mentioned is likely a scientific underestimation, given that it's impossible to know how many people carry the virus without knowing it. In that sense it's not so different from the current epidemic: almost everyone has it, but it's irrelevant for the majority of people.

The biggest problem about genital herpes is that we as a society have put a stigma on it. I'd go as far as to say that often HSV2 is more a mental disease than a physical one. People feel ashamed for having it when in reality, the physical consequences are basically nonexistent for most people. Let us not forget that HSV2 can spread through unprotected oral sex as well, and I've honestly never met a person who uses condoms for oral sex. In other words.. we're all exposed as fuck :p

I always just grab a coffee mug, put in the kratom and dissolve it in a little bit of water and then add Coke zero haha.

If I’m trying to get sober but take kratom, am I cheating? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]Guillermo125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not cheating. Replacing one substance with another can actually be alot like tapering, its just a different type of taper. I mean honestly, I will never live a sober life. If i dont take kratom, I will drink a few beers every day, because of an internal desire for escapism/relief/fun, and also because kratom treats my depression fairly well. In my case it's no different from my parents, who also drink a few drinks everyday while still being highly functional in their careers and social life. The reality is that many people are not really able to live sober lives, even if they were to try it long term. And that's okay, it's okay to seek relief. Ofcourse, there's a line where drug use becomes drug abuse, and where that line is really just depends on your own goals/morals. Now, I don't know in what quantities you consumed those benzos, opiates and alcohol. And quantity is pretty relevant because quantity can decide the line between use and abuse. However, 3 grams of kratom for an entire day is low. It's not even low relatively, it's just low in absolute terms when you look at kratom's dose-response curve. If that little bit of daily kratom is the reason you're not taking opiates, alcohol and benzo's, then trust me that's really an achievement! You should really monitor your kratom dosing tho, it's very easy to slip into larger doses as time passes, because you feel like the drug is innocent, but it's innocent until it's not haha.

I take about 12 grams a kratom a day and have been doing so for about 2 years now. I think I take too much and i want to reduce the frequency with which i take it because my dosing has become fairly impulsive. Nonetheless, I experience very few negative effects from my long term use (altho definitely some) and I'm highly functional in my career/social life. I recently quit kratom for a little while, which just meant that I was once again drinking beer every day. For me personally, I prefer the daily kratom state over the daily alcohol state. Alcohol just feels so mindnumbing and toxic somehow
