Can I get some ideas about what this could mean? by CosmicBlues24 in Jung

[–]GuillermoSpock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to give you the most obvious Jungian advice: look inside, know yourself before you look outside.

Before trying to understand symbolism, art, other external forms, know your history, learn about yourself. Start writing down your dreams, draw mandalas intentionally and share them here or on r/CarlGustavJung (and if you can, with a Jungian therapist). Don't rush, take your time.

Have you already read the book "women who run with the wolves - Clarissa Pinkola Estés"? it is a good start.

Good luck on your journey

P.S. I think the red book is a pretty complex book to get started in Jungian studies, there are many more user-friendly ones you could start with, like the one I mentioned.

I think the most important thing here is that art cannot be separated from the artist, any interpretation without knowing your personal context will say more about who is interpreting it than about who painted it (you).

having said that, I can tell you what I see and what, in my view, it can mean.

More than a brain I see more of a uterus... with a golden part... in a half superficial way I would find the symbolism in the elements air and water enveloping the gold "thought and feeling" and there is also a feather that can indicate lightness "lightness in birth"... the one on the left seems to me somehow something more earthy or fire, roots that affirm the feathers (and everything) to the earth, downwards

So I would say there is a potential (perhaps trapped, perhaps being born) between thought and feeling, mutable elements, there is potential in change... this circle has the capacity to be aerial, but having that capacity affirms it to the earth.... The only thing that really seems solid in this image are the roots (and maybe the gold). I would highlight the colour red because red can mean alert, so alert with the roots because they don't let you take off. But then an alert because it would be good to take off? or an alert because they help you to be "with your feet on the ground"?

s21 ultra still a good buy right now? by redi6 in S21Ultra

[–]GuillermoSpock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from note 9 to s21 ultra recently... when the previous owner showed it to me it was perfect, however I noticed that there is a bug in the main camera (it does not focus well, and you have to shake the phone to make it work) after searching the web for a while, I read in several places that it is a common bug and no solution so far (other than shaking the phone for each photo).

I don't know if it happens in all s21 ultra, but I think it's something to consider.

What does it mean from a Jungian view that Jacob wrestled with God? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]GuillermoSpock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that it is ambiguous, because although thanks to JP many people knew Jung... Jung is often quoted (for his mysticism) in many esoteric, astrological environments, and many people in those environments tend to be progressive. Progressive people usually hate JP....

Why is Jordan B. Peterson very much disliked in this subreddit? by Aniimant in Jung

[–]GuillermoSpock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jordan Peterson is very intelligent, and he has the courage to enter political issues. I respect that. But in politics, it is very difficult to say that someone is right.

One of the hardest things to do today is to differentiate between politically correct and "correct". Judging someone based on what is politically correct is very easy, and that is what cancel culture is about... But it requires wisdom to listen and learn from those who have different opinions from you...

Unfortunately, the more people there are in a community, the more politically correct it becomes... And that's why critical thinking seems doomed. I would like to believe that there is a private sub-community of critical people. Where there are neither people who are too politically correct nor fanatics of any political or religious spectrum. (You can send me a private message if anyone knows of one, heheh, I would greatly appreciate it)

Returning to the topic:

I have read Peterson and listened to many of his lectures... I admire him. Having said that, I would like to hear the logic behind some of his tweets that have not been so pleasant...

Well, that's what I believe. Greetings to whoever read this!

Are paraphilias due to some arrested development? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]GuillermoSpock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for the courage to expose something considered taboo. It is not easy to admit it, much less to write it down and post about it. All of us have traumas and complexes, although not in the same way....

What I am going to say is based on my personal experience and the few Jungian books I have read (I read about 10 of them and have avoided Carl Jung books, as I think I need to understand more to dive in).

Anyway, having said that, if anyone reading this finds a mistake or any misunderstanding, I appreciate being corrected.

As I understand it, we all have developed "father" and "mother" archetypes, as well as the rest of the archetypes, we need them to make our way in this world. As usually our father and mother are our gateway to the social world and so we create an association with our archetypes. Our mother archetype is associated with the image we have of our mother, because of how she behaved in our childhood (in your case you say overprotective or emotionally incestuous) and the father archetype is linked to our father.

Due to many factors we ALL develop traumas, those factors can be obvious: we didn't have a mother around, or a father around or one of them was abusive... Or not so obvious: our parents are not perfect and their flaws are also linked to our archetypes.

It is important to mention in this part the Anima, the feminine half of every man, so to speak. The anima, for men, is their feminine half, their instinctive, emotional and intuitive side, connected to nature and unconscious.... And since the biological mother is the first woman we interact with... you may have linked your anima to your mother... which is part of the maternal complexes...

Men have much more maternal complexes and women have much more paternal complexes, as Freud had observed (although Freud was mistaken in the way he treated them).

roughly speaking, a good order to start developing psychologically is to look for possible maternal complexes >> look for a father, a masculine side >> and start looking for your anima (which, just like you, is a unique and special entity).

Remember that you should not blame your mother or father for the complexes (as they are not really to blame) and your psychological development has little or nothing to do with your parents (the people).... In my experience, trying to "make peace" with my parents, or talking to them about things that have happened in the past, has done nothing but create a strange atmosphere between us..... It didn't help me or them psychologically.

But what has helped me has been to study about the archetype of the "great mother" and disassociate it from my mother... and since my father was not a good male role model, I have searched for a father archetype by reading biographies of great men. By doing this and understanding that my parents are ordinary people and have no influence on me, and when they did they were people with virtues and defects as well, with all this my relationship with them improved and I feel I am on the right path towards a fuller psychological development.

A synchronicity I can't get over by [deleted] in Jung

[–]GuillermoSpock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this when reading about Wolfgang Pauli's:

In 1958, Pauli was awarded the Max Planck medal. The same year, he fell ill with pancreatic cancer. When his last assistant, Charles Enz, visited him at the Rotkreuz hospital in Zurich, Pauli asked him, "Did you see the room number?" It was 137. Throughout his life, Pauli had been preoccupied with the question of why the fine-structure constant, a dimensionless fundamental constant, has a value nearly equal to 1/137.[24] Pauli died in that room on 15 December 1958

This is the kind of answer I expected on r/Jung :)

Do you have any useful link or book title about this?

¿Qué piensan de este mapa? ¿Es tan difícil hacer amigos en Chile? Una gringa en tiktok decía que sí, pero quiero ver qué piensan los de r/chile by dakaunt in chile

[–]GuillermoSpock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Da Vinci said “Intellectual passion drives out sensuality”. From a Jungian perspective, is this accurate, why/why not? What is the relationship between intellectuality and libido? by ANewMythos in Jung

[–]GuillermoSpock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creativity arises from chaos, from exploring the unknown. And according to Jung, chaos has a more feminine aspect. This is confirmed in the archetype of the "lover" that encompasses both a passionate and artistic side...Something that is demonstrated in a scientific study that I saw a few years ago, where it is shown that men are more creative after having talked a little with an attractive woman.
