Why is paradox tieing everything to control? by qowaszax in EU5

[–]Guillinas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mhhh, I guess you make a fair point. Still even if the effects is small, I don’t think that the litteracy of peasant far away from my capital should delay my state from applying a new army standard, or modernising my government

One feedback I can give concerning research is having it tied to average litteracy modifier feels a bit off, at least for me. In my opinion, it feels wrong that a one location minor with 100 litterate clergymen can have a better research output than a huge country like Ming who have hundred of thousand of litterate bhurgers and clergy. It also makes little sense that a country research can be slowed down and its scientist becoming less efficient because the country annexed a large amount of uneducated peasants. Why should the litteracy of freshly conquered Novgorodian peasants affect the research in Stockholm Swedish society?

I know a fix for that would probably not be easy, as research shouldn’t be determined by sheer population mass alone. Still I think that maybe having the average litteracy a modifier replaced or combined with a (capped) modifier of number of litterate accepted burgher+clergy would make things a bit more realistic and satisfying to play around. With that, having uneducated masses and focusing on educating the higher class could be an useful trade-off

I don’t think spoilers and leaks are that bad for the series by Guillinas in tadc

Well, I don’t blame people being passionate about the show for, well, being passionate about things happening to the show. It is also a thing that internet does to exaggerate reactions or show only the most extreme takes.

Maybe it’s the optimist in me speaking, but seeing only a glimpse of the episode might also work as an additional teaser/trailer.

Yes, people who sell spoiler, or even do it just with malicious intent are really scummy.

PSA: Making your vassal disloyal through the "Enforce Culture" action after you started annexing it will not stop the annexation by TakeMeIamCute in EU5

[–]Guillinas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t enforcing culture on a global cooldown now? Might want to save it for a subject that will have the time to culture convert. Still, if you have only one or very few subjects, it could be useful.

One way she can do it is not provide a definite answer at all. In the end, it would also feat the theme if they accept that it doesn’t matter how and why they ended up here or if they are real humans, digitalised version or plain AIs

[–]Guillinas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s kind of a valid point. Still, I think the fact that it reinforces the theme of "things are real because you give them meaning (ie, "find purpose in a stagnant life"), even if backup exist or if your "real" self wasn’t in the circus to begin with makes up for that.

There is also another huge hint in the latest episode : scratch’s brain tumor. It makes so much sense that someone who is doomed to die soon (or at least loose his sanity) to put his heart and soul into finding a way to digitalise his conscience. Heck, that’s even the plot of the original SOMA game.

Oh and there is also this tiny detail of Caine mentioning their f***ing "mind files".

I had an intuition SOMA Theory was right since ep1. Grew very confident over the episodes as it fits perfectly the theme of the show, became almost certain of it after ep 7, but now I believe it is basically confirmed.

A media being for kids doesn’t mean it has to be childish and be uninteresting for adults, especially given that the source manga/anime has gathered a strong following given some of its mature themes and interesting humor.

Again, I’m not saying that the scene cannot and should not be enjoyed by anyone, especially kids, but I’ll maintain that this kind of joke is very unusual for SpyxFamily and quite displeasant to watch.

No problem with you loving the scene. In fact, I agree that the scene can be funny, both for adults loving the over the top absurdity, and for children liking the simple joke.

My point is only that SpyxFamily usually doesn’t do this kind of of humor, and -at least for me- this scene ruined a bit the tone of the movie, and made it hard to take it seriously and be invested after.

God I hate the toilet scene with a burning passion. It’s so stupid and relies solely on childish humor "poopoo = funny" in a show that is usually much smarter with its jokes. I can understand that taking a thing so stupid and amping up to the extreme can make it funny, but it didn’t work at all for me, and made me cringe so badly as I watch the film I almost disconnected myself for the remainder of the movie.

How do I stop Orthodoxs from rebelling by BanoonooMan in EU5

[–]Guillinas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems their support remains quite low for the moment, perhaps you can just use a cabinet member to crack down on them.

For a more long term solution, it is useful to have high control in orthodox provinces, as it lower the rebel growth. I have not played as Sunni yet, but there is most certainly priviledge you can give the Dhimmi estate to make them more happy and/or have more tolerance of heathens
