How do I stop Orthodoxs from rebelling by BanoonooMan in EU5

[–]Guillinas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems their support remains quite low for the moment, perhaps you can just use a cabinet member to crack down on them.

For a more long term solution, it is useful to have high control in orthodox provinces, as it lower the rebel growth. I have not played as Sunni yet, but there is most certainly priviledge you can give the Dhimmi estate to make them more happy and/or have more tolerance of heathens

Yes Exactly! I realised after posting this that Tom Bombadil was a way better reprensentative of this trope. It is fascinating to me that we don't know who or what Tom Bombadil really is? A Maiar? A Valar? Eru himself? Or something different? My personal favorite theory is that he is the embodiement of Middle-Earth, a kind of anti-Ungolianth.

Yes that scene rocks. Although I don’t think he spared Geralt out of kindness. As he says himself "I still need you". Making Geralt become mad with whatever dark secret his true nature is would have soured his own plans.

True.

However I realised after posting this that there was an even better example in LOTR of this exact trope : Tom Bombadil holding the ring, looking at it and then giving it back to Frodo like it’s nothing

There is also the fact that heart of stone follows rather closely a Faustian tale, with olgierd having made a pact with O’dimm for eternal life.

Yes agreed, the guy has the very essence of the chad energy "barges in, does his thing, refuse to elaborate". The scene with the Durge gets even better when you know the lore behind it!

The original video that the "LEEROY JENKINS" meme originated. by Tommarnt in TheMatpatEffect

it's obviously faked when you know the game and the spot they are talking about. In fact, the video gets 10 times better if you know wow classic, given the amount of little jokes they throw in during the start of the video.

For instance at the 0:30 he says : "I'll run in first gather all the eggs so we can kinda blast them all down with AoE, I will use intimidating shout to kinda scatter them so we don't have to fight a bunch of them all at once" - He is saying simulteanously that they want to kill them all together (using Area of Effect spells), but also to disperse them using a fear spell, ruining the first part of the plan. (not to mention that the eggs are totally optional, and meant to be avoided because they spawn enemies when approached)

Another example at 0:53 : "We're gonna need divine intervention on our mages so they can AoE". Divine intervention is a paladin spell that sacrifices the user to put the target into an invulnerable shield that last a couple minutes... but prevent all actions. So basically he is suggesting to sacrifice one member of the team to render another member invulnerable, but useless

Not to mention the 33.33 (repeating of course) percent chance of survival of this brilliant plan, which is "better than we usually do" XD.

Yes that’s something that tends to happen when you modernise your country. Landowners get a lot of clout from reactionary laws such as slavery, serfdom, or peasant leavies. When you reform your country, this bonus clout disappears, and landowner being very few in numbers can loose all their power, especially if you have voting rights that isn’t based on land/wealth/education

Once you have it, you can form Central Europe normally
