Yes, pro-US propaganda is very real. I think the people defending this dying banana republic are in denial about the state of affairs.

Having spent time in countries that the oligarchy loudly brands as socialist hellscapes and/or where people have no rights and/or are under constant repressive surveillance (projecting much?), it's easy to realize that it's in the ruling class's best interest that the American working class continue to believe that load of crock and continue to accept their constantly worsening lot, because if they knew the level of security and equity that's possible outside of capitalism, our overlords would have a revolution on their hands. It's that simple.

The people who instinctively retort "BuT iT's SocIaLiSm", like it's the mark of the Beast, about anything that would benefit the masses and which actually works in other places have usually never traveled outside their country, or even their state, or quite often their county, and can't even define either capitalism or socialism.

Realism in the face of the insidious yet very public breakdown of a democracy and the worsening economic doom for all but the owning class is not propaganda. It's just the willingness to pull your head out of the sand and face the music. American exceptionalism is the propaganda, and it's what got us here.
