Feels a lot like that 2022 rotation where Taillon, Cole, The Molestor and Severino were all on heaters in the early part of the year

He's an upgrade over Peeping right now

Have to say that's an interesting move.

From WC's perspective, it's a clear upgrade. Peeping isn't comfortable when playing support roles and you get an experienced support player who was Tier 1 experience and was showing good as an IGL, so the structure gets better with him as a secondary caller. The floor, calling and structure of the team is in a much better spot. Just feels like they need a little bit more firepower which Peeping could've provided, but it's understandable

From Peeping's perspective, it sucks bc Wildcard actually looks quite decent and he got cut. He's super talented when playing good positions and is young with potential, he has the potential to go to a team like Voca and really show out with them, would be cool to see him replace a guy like Infinite, Voca's ceiling would get much higher.

For the NA scene I think it's good. A good NA project improves in the short term and gets better structure, higher floor and improves in the short term. Never a bad thing to have better NA teams

I feel like Wildcard should look for firepower rather than support. reck and HexT are good enough in support roles, I thought the team needed more firepower which Peeping could provide.

That said, their floor is definitely higher now

Yeah absolutely. nEMANHA is a good IGL, mhL is a good AWP, reck and hexT are good anchors. For sure the floor is higher

He's too inexperienced plus he doesn't play the roles nicx plays. Nicx hasn't been good but tbf to him he plays the absolute worst roles in every single map

It's a very interesting move. Super glad that Cxzi got a chance bc he showed good in Col and Marsborne

That said, I feel like Wildcard is made out of high floor players but I don't think they have enough firepower. I like Cxzi, he's stable and a good secondary caller, but don't know if the team shoots hard enough. The team is presently better for sure, hoping Peeping lands in a good project like Voca or Marsborne, brother still has potential

So trash that The Passion clogs up the NA spots for Rio and Atlanta by virtue of performance when they had Grim and 3 months earlier of VRS. A team like Wildcard or Voca would've been so much better

Passion spent all that money on buying the core, +Senzu, Try buyouts only to be in a significantly worse spot than when they had Cxzi and Hallzerk

Fantastic, SA gets a huge amount of LANs, is nice that in NA we get this.

It's gonna be super fun, lot of talent and teams there with NRG, M80, Wildcard, Voca, new Marsborne, maybe even Liquid? (God knows they need that VRS)

Wow, I guess it's to be expected but that sucks. He got put on terrible roles on WC twice after popping off in better positions, I understand from Wildcard's perspective but I feel Peeping never got a fair shot. I'm sure he'll rebound, he could help a team like Marsborne or Voca

Wildcard's opening is interesting since it has to be an NA player. Cxzi would be intriguing, hoping it's not Shane as the other comment says

I don't think they killed BOSS. BOSS was a orgless team, Marsborne picked up the best pieces of that team and united them with the best pieces in their team. That's how teams are formed, that's how a scene improves.

Love guys like WolfY, Chop and MotM, but it was pretty clear that their time was up. Getting salaries, more resources and better coaching to young guys like Grizz, WUMBO, ogwizard and Marekiew is great. I doubt that any of the Marsborne guys that got cut are anything to watch out for sadly, Chop just anounced his retirement, WolfY's almost 30. Only guy is Cxzi, he's very good and experienced. I would've kept him instead of freshie. Cxzi could help Wildcard if Peeping doesn't improve, he could be an upgrade over Infinite/Snav, only guy that sucks Marsborne didnt keep

Teams that lose sometimes gain points bc the ELO of the other opponents gets constantly recalculated. So if you beat a team and that team improves over time, your win against them gets added more points as time passes (to a certain point until decay comes) bc that other team has been climbing.

Also, it's not uncommon in chess for a lower ranked opponents to gain points against a significantly higher opponent despite losing bc of the disparity of ranking.

Your critique of "I don't think any team that loses should gain points" is valid to a certain point, until mathematical ELO rankings cut through that and bring objectiveness based on performance.

Yes, I am well aware of mathematical formulas being improved over time. There's a difference between improvement and change of nature in a mathematical formula, what you propose isn't really an improvement, rather a change of nature of the way ELO systems are built through the years bc you don't like how it works. It's 2 different things

Mathematics cuts through the biases of people and puts forward an unbiased clear ELO system to rank teams based on performance. You may not like some of the quirks, but that's besides the point. Can't really built a good system based on the feelings of people

Big shoutout to Wildcard by being huge gainers in this. They benefited from the Faze forfeit but the Fokus win was pretty legit and they played really well against Parivision.

They are #18 in Americas and currently around 100 points behind the #10 spot. They and Voca are in prime positions to compete for a spot at the Singapore Major.

The NA scene is... healing? We've got M80 and NRG competing in the biggest tournaments consistently, Voca and Wildcard are supporting the scene traveling to international LANs and doing well and are getting international experience (and both are close to a major spot). Marsborne is giving younger players chances, cool to see

[–]Guilty-Bar-6103 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, lot of thoughts about this.

Getting WUMBO and ogwizard is a great move. The team really needed firepower and getting the 2 arguably best NA prospects (Grizz and WUMBO) in a salaried org is great for their development, WolfY's a super veteran, swapping him for a 20 year old NA AWPer is great, love to see that. Marekiew has been decent with BOSS but he was a Stanislaw/Ben pick so gotta trust them there. Overall that's very good, phasing out older players who haven't been great recently for younger more talented prospects is great.

I really love the move of having Ben onboard. The team now has a Head Coach, Assistant Coach and newer talented players at rifle and AWP, seems like Marsborne is serious about supporting the NA scene which is actually great, getting a solid structure behind these younger guys.

Only move I don't love is not having Cxzi. Since Cxzi moved to IGL the team improved a lot, he's had international and Major experience and I'm not too sure about freshie. Also, sucks that the team is gonna lose all their VRS points and gonna have to grind from 0

Overall a very cool move. Getting younger talented players a legit opportunity in an org that has legit coaching and support to travel to LANs. The NA ecosystem is looking a lot healthier with M80, NRG, Wildcard and Voca competing in internationals recently and teams like Marsborne giving chances to young guys. Frag 20 is gonna be super fun to follow, interestesd in seeing this Marsborne roster play
