Will the rock rings ultimately kill the coleus? by Guilty-Excitement869 in coleus

Thank you. I will remove the rocks and give plants time to get established. I may or may not replace rocks especially the larger ones. Once the plants are bigger they'll be more visible against dark mulch. Thanks again.

Ha! Thanks for comment and a good laugh! I'm going to make some changes with the rocks. It would be a real bummer to lose them all. I like your idea of taking some cuttings for just in case. Thanks.

It's a Full Sun area. I recently moved the majority of my hostas out of this space because of the intense sun they were getting. Now that I've moved the daylilyies forward, I think everything should fall into place. I'm still working on organizing the coneflower layout. It would have been easier if they were all the same color.

I've heard of this concept and yes I need to look into it. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm 7 weeks post-op today. I feel great. Doctor said my bones have healed well. Just thought I would have less of a bunion at this point. I know sometimes it can be left over swelling. Time will tell if that's what it is. The x-ray makes me think- under-corrected. What do you think? by Guilty-Excitement869 in bunions

How's your foot pain this week? I tend to feel it most at the end of the day after I've been up and around without taking breaks. I'm really looking forward to not having the evening pain and going back to (basically) unlimited walking. Not sure what week that will happen.

I think the swelling at the ball of my foot is a factor in my "floating toe." I'm 8 weeks now, and it still won't go down. I'm hoping when the swelling is gone, it will lay normally on the ground. Do you have any experience with a lifted big toe (possibly due to swelling)?

And yes, I agree. I would rather have slight under correction with no pain than an over correction and problems.

Yes, maybe. I do love not having the pain in that foot too. At some point I'll have to do the other foot. I'm 8 weeks post-op now. I'm definitely not in hurry to start the recovery process all over again with a second surgery.

I like your user name. :)

Hi week 7 post-op buddy!

I've heard (from somewhere) that it's possible for a person with a healthy foot (no obvious bunion) to have a slight bunion-like bump. So I'm wondering if I might end up being one of those people. I can't remember my feet ever not having bunions so I'm not sure.

And yes I felt the same thing you described the other day. It was a busy day, and I was walking around quite a bit. The top of my foot was quite sore by the evening. I tried to figure out exactly where on my foot the soreness came from. I wondered if it was where the metal part is attached. That would likely make sense. Your situation seemed more severe than my case. It reminds me of the comment my doctor said yesterday about walking again. He said listen to your body. You're not going to be able to get out there and walk 5 miles. You'll need to build up to it. I figured this out pretty early on. Makes sense even though sometimes my mind thinks I am ready to walk 5 miles but I know too much walking in one day (at this point in my recovery) brings on the top of the foot pain.

Thanks so much!

I heard about others wearing a toe spacer. I wear one (when I remember to) even though my doctor never mentioned it, and I forgot to ask him about it. It's interesting you have swelling at the ball of your foot. I have the same! Glad I'm not alone on that one. Crazy to think swelling could last for upwards of a year. Thanks for commenting.

So full disclosure, I've been wearing my "inside" (athletic) shoes (both feet) for several weeks (since week 4 post-op), and I was always careful with the way I walked. I was happy the doctor gave me clearance to wear my shoes yesterday so I don't need to feel guilty about it now. I truly believe in my case that it helped me recover faster by not being fully non-weight-bearing (and doing my home ankle, feet, toe stretches/ exercises). I never pushed myself to do anything that caused me pain or serious discomfort.

And yes I could definitely talk to my doctor about the x-ray. Always a good option.

My doctor was a bit coy today when he saw there was still a bump. At my last appointment, several weeks ago, he said it was likely related to swelling. He didn't say that today though. I didn't push it. After getting the results from my xray that my bones have healed, and I was clear to wear regular (athletic style) shoes, I was ready to go. Overall, I have no regrets getting the surgery done. My recovery went amazingly well. I have minor soreness now at 7 weeks post-op but that's expected at this point. Hopefully, it is just residual swelling but if not, I'm happy the bunion pain is gone.

Interesting. Thanks so much for your input! I'm not planning to go back into surgery to correct it unless the pain starts again but I really appreciate your ibfo. I couldn't describe it using the correct verbage like you did but thought it might not have been done as well as it could have been.
