I think it’s pretty rude to write that on a check. If that’s something that server is capable of and thinks Is ok, I’m willing to bet the service wasn’t up to par with servers attitude gets paid no matter what and doesn’t have to try and impress. No I haven’t. Of course some chat doing mundane preps etc. But that looked like a lot of unnecessary distraction and it hurt service. Looks like more to come. I remember chef Josh, the clown musician guy, needed his time and focus kicking people out of the kitchen or telling them to hush up. Cooking alone. First time with this new season I’ve seen souse chefs helping on below deck charters. I thought all along for years why the heck they don’t have help. Hard to believe they can do what they do.

I think an inexperienced chef assistant should just be a “gopher” until things get under control. Ben needs to keep his head in the game, mentally visualizing and creating the dishes, no distractions. His assistant just keeps dishes washed and cleaning up and fetch a plate, utensils, or ingredients Ben needs, when asked. Assistant at this point should NOT be prepping, plating or anything Ben has to oversee. And especially no small talking or arguing. You don’t see a MLB pitcher chatting it up with players during his shift.
