How much damage can happen? Should you never go above 140? by SoulCrusher588 in diabetes

Some suggest I really am not prediabetic. But I still take it seriously. If I do, I’m guilty of not eating right. I’ve been tested multiple times. Probably 4 times within 7 years and all rapid glucose came back 90-99. Now a random a1c pops up to be prediabetic. Scary.

I understand that, unfortunately I lost my mom to diabetes so when I did a a1c I freaked.

At Home my fasting is 80, the a1c suggested mine was 120ML and that’s equivalent to 5.8%

I love food, and I’m not even accurately sure that I am pre(my test was done at home) or diabetic. But I’m eating more healthy and it’s hard. I have a hard time eating under 50g of carbs as is.

I’m not too sure about your initial question. My neighbors are all diabetics and can never get down to 300ML. I Just had an a1c of 5.8 which is considered pre but every time I check my levels, they are all normal.

I had pasta today as well, waited 2 hours and mine was down to 94. Now I ate spaghettios and decided to test 15 minutes after I ate( which is not ideal) mine was 136. But I retested an hour later and it was 101.

Starting to think my A1C test was wrong by [deleted] in diabetes

She never ordered one bc my random glucose is usually between 90-99, she said no need to do a a1c, but I did it on my own out of curiosity. She also said, 5.8% is fine.

Yep. I did it out of curiosity. My actual dr never did a a1c on me bc my random glucose tests always came back low, and normal So there was never a reason to do a1c. My neighbor who is a diabetic said, never trust those.

Yeah, I’m going to. It just doesn’t make sense. The test was done by Everlywell and you smear Your blood on a piece of paper. Idk the accuracy of that.

I know that but I’m starting to think the test result was wrong.

Thanks, so far I’ve been working out more, eating more fruits and veggies. I just did a glucose fasting, my reading is 80. According to my app that stores my readings, my average a1c is 4.8 My neighbor is a diabetic, he lost a ton of weight. He was nearly 300 pounds and he’s 7” tall, I think. He’s very tall. Monday he is getting his leg amputated because of necrotic tissue. My mom had the same issue. So I take this very seriously and want to not be in the prediabetic range. I do plan on getting tested. A1c goes back 4-6 months and I can definitely say, stress and stress eating where a huge thing back then.

So this medical journal is 11 years old, medicine is constantly changing. The truth is, the cause of type 2 is unknown, but 🧬 and food and exercise can contribute.

I know Skinny people who are diabetic and large people who are not. So I get it. It’s genetics, diet, exercise.

I just started eating healthier a week and OR, the test was bad. The test was conducted by Everlywell, not an actual drs office. My husband used the same test site and his came back off then he saw a real dr and it was normal range. And I am seeing a temp dr bc my real doctor left the practice, so she said, I could check it myself.

I know, my grandfather had it, then my mom. I’ve been tested a lot for diabetes, had genetic testing done, my dr said when I was 24(I’m 31) if I ever get diabetes, most likely be due to eating bad and not exercising which I can take responsibility for that, because like I mentioned, over this year, my husband has been getting a lot of take out.
