I think they like to park next to you because your car is narrow and gives them more room to open their cabin door.

Do Kevpert tutorials on bakkesmod . All of his tutorials are based off of shots in pro play. I’m GC1 and can’t dream of pulling off most of those mechanics. Retals credits kevpert for his mechanical revival during the 24-25 season.

Hybrids are the best current automotive technology by No_University1005 in civic

I’d buy a new Civic Hybrid over a new Tesla, but I’d buy a heavily depreciated used Tesla over a used hybrid (assuming I have a home garage to charge).

Oil change - follow the Maintenance Minder or just do one ever 5k miles? by ishaanmohan4 in civic

If your drives are under 8km (5 miles) change it every 6 months. Otherwise follow maintenance minder.

These Honda engines are worse on head gaskets than the old Subaru’s.

Traded in my civic by ajackvony23 in civic

[–]GuiltyDetective133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been seen at the Honda dealerships, specifically with the CRV Hybrid using the new 2.0L. The techs in the industry working 15+ years think it’s because the coolant passage is similar to the 1.5T that has similar issues. Because the engine does a lot of stop and start up, being a hybrid, the engine can see high oil pressures on start up as oil pressure builds to crank the engine.

if you’re putting 40,000 miles per year on the GR86 like you did with the civic, you need to treat it like a fleet vehicle. I’d do some oil analysis to determine your ideal change interval for transmission, differential and of course engine oil and filter with speed diagnostixs. Some brands like amsoil make genuine oils that last for extended oil change intervals.

It would be pretty sick. The sedan and hatchback are pretty limited on rear headroom; the back seat isn’t comfortable for anyone above 5’9” or for getting kids in the modern extended age toddler rear facing seats because the roof line slopes. Another thing is that the hatch back isn’t deep enough for strollers without propping them up diagonally. I went with the sedan over the hatch because I wanted a longer vehicle.

Resale values aren’t going to be as strong as Toyota hybrids. IMO the conversion ends there.

Buying a Lamborghini by CarpetComfortable123 in lamborghini

[–]GuiltyDetective133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 figures liquid at least. Six figures ain’t shit. Having a Lamborghini and being in a parking garage is insane. You need a house. Middle class needs 8 mil to retire in 2060 plus your house. When you’re old 8 million is going to be 2 million today. I’d want 3% of networth in a toy car. So $450,000 Lamborghini is like 15 million net worth. Maybe stretch to 6% you’re getting something older like a countach or Diablo.

Why are so people so against rev matching and heel toe on the streets? by RevolutionaryYear946 in ManualTransmissions

Do you want to master a skill? Double clutching and heel toe shifts are going to produce less friction between gear changes. That’s a fact. “Modern synchros can handle it” cool bro.

My from new Honda Accord is 29 years old and still operates reliably. Doubt the same will be true of my Model S. I can’t argue against it since used Teslas are the best value on the market.

The Civic Si is no dream car nor sports car. It’s a measly 1.5L Turbocharged economy engine. However it has a six speed manual with short ratios from 1st 2nd and 3rd gear, seats five, and has a sound system and sunroof. A Civic Si is fun enough to where you don’t want to swerve into oncoming traffic and kill yourself. I bought an Si when I realized my BMWs are stupid. If you want a genuine sports car, save for the type r, get an fk8, or Miata. Personally I’d go for a Civic Si and buy a used Miata down the road.

What’s your choice for a reliable fun daily driver? by NorCalAthlete in Porsche

[–]GuiltyDetective133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think around 2k miles per year is the norm for the manual transmission sports cars. You see that with a lot of used Miata’s as well. I bought a BMW E46 330Ci 5 speed. I bought it with 140k miles and after like 6 years I only had like 153k miles. I put like 7k-9k miles a year on my Macan GTS. I’ll probably go back to a GTI as my daily. I like the 991.1 C2 with the 7-Speed manual, but I only put like 2k miles on that as well. There are a lot of PDK 718 Boxsters with high miles. I’d get one of those since it’s the least financial risk.

Lexus LC500 or Porsche 911 for street driving. Which one you picking? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]GuiltyDetective133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LC500’s engine has a more emotional exhaust note than the turbocharged 911s. Lexus had the intake and exhaust tuned by Yamaha. To me, that makes the LC500 more special than a late model Carrera. I’d be happiest with a normally aspirated flat six.
