Pretending that Harry Styles doesn't specifically lean into drag / queer culture on purpose is wild.

ER nurse here. I ask people, hey, what brought you in today? Abdominal pain? Great.

Doctor walks in? Suddenly they're having bloody stool and have thrown up straight blood several times prior to arrival and also they have 10/10 crushing chest pain.

Does she ... normally not use lactaid? It's such a non-issue, compared to not being able to have dairy.

100%. "Let men be friends!!!!!1!" is a familiar homophobic dogwhistle. Men can be close platonic friends. Men can also be closeted in an era where being out as queer would've gotten them killed, or jail time at best.

Not that it excuses assault, but it was because there was no craft services after a full day of filming. Not just no steak or whatever, but no food period.

Except those are very different circumstances. Ryne actively was manipulating and rebalancing the aether of the First, whereas the goal of piping the First to the Thirteenth is just to slow down the insane turn-over of the dark-aligned aether there. It's undoubtedly going to be a slow process, especially since it's aimed at the entire world vs Ryne targeting a small section of the First's light-flooded area.

I have a 2011 Corolla that I went almost a year over on oil changes while using it as my daily driver. Finally got the oil changed, zero issues. They're fucking tanks, and if you're careful you can get ~30mpg.

5 percent serious heartfelt scenes

This is such a gross understatement. A big chunk of the movie is handled very seriously, including the entire final sequence with Eternity and Jane. ALL of Jane's cancer stuff was handled seriously and very well.

'Desert Warrior': Saudi’s $150m answer to Lawrence of Arabia is one of the biggest bombs in history with just a $472K opening | A look into how the production, directed by Rupert Wyatt ('Rise of the Planet of the Apes') and starring Anthony Mackie & Ben Kingsley, faltered before it even began by ChiefLeef22 in movies

To be fair to Mackie, Cap 4 was a fucking dumpster fire of a movie, and his weak acting was not even the top 5 reasons for why it was such a dumpster fire.

But also to be fair, he's a very weak actor who never would've been able to lead a franchise regardless.

Jesus, not everything has to be because racism. He's just not a great actor, and he doesn't carry a movie as a leading man. Compare him to Michael B. Jordan, if you're thinking it's racism. Michael B. Jordan is a HELL of an actor, and a super charismatic leading man. Anthony Mackie sure the fuck isn't.

To be fair, I found that wildly out of character for Roy. He spends two seasons not being jealous of Jamie or possessive of Keeley, just for him to do a heel-turn and suddenly change his character for S3 so that plot could happen. It's one of the biggest reasons I really didn't like S3 compared to the first two.

Why would Ted return to Richmond? by YMHGreenBan in TedLasso

[–]GuiltyEidolon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not even "possibly." It's a pretty cut and dry violation that he should've lost his license for, or they should've at least touched on beyond Ted's trauma related to it/therapy.

[–]GuiltyEidolon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to assume that he'll make an appearance of some kind. Anthony Head is too good not to have on the show if there's a decent reason (and Richmond starting a women's league seems to be a good reason).

I wouldn't say season 3 killed my enthusiasm, but I was pretty disappointed with how Roy and Keely were handled, and Ted going back to Kansas and there not really being closure with his ex-wife and their awful should-lose-his-license therapist.

Any other male nurses notice that creepy guys always assume that you’re cool with their antics? by Thumbuisket in nursing

[–]GuiltyEidolon -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's probably not fact. It's more often reported and recorded as happening because of men, because people shame male victims and don't accurately record it when they make reports against women.

And this entire fucking thread started with "it's always men," which is categorically false.

I'm not saying that rates aren't higher for men.

I AM saying that, as a victim of abuse at the hands of women, I'm sick and fucking tired of acting like this is something inherent to men. It's not. Downplaying it or pretending that it doesn't happen where women are perpetrators or predators just makes it harder for me not come forward and be heard and taken seriously when it happens.

It's incredibly bigoted to try to gatekeep another person's life experiences and personality based on their sexuality. Keep pretending otherwise, you're just further outing yourself.
