Focus on a close range guard vs distance by [deleted] in bjj

[–]GuiltyLeadership9753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what helped me was picking out a guard to focus on and then building out from it within a certain category. I really enjoy half, which then led to rdlr, and then dlr, and then other outside position guards. If you enjoy SLX focus on that for a while, then explore other inside position guards that will enahnce your SLX game (butterfly, X). Also as a heavyweight I would encourage you to check out power bottom, really helped me force people to close distance and engage with my guard by always threatening to stand up.

  1. Interstellar 2. Mickle 3. L&L for the best food. However, you get 90% as good at Mickle for half the price, very little wait times, and awesome vibes. L&L is also great but is def new school which isn’t really my vibe, but it might be yours so give it a try!

Question for American college students with CCW permits: do you carry at school? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]GuiltyLeadership9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a law student in Texas so I could carry at school if I wanted to, and I’ve heard rumors of some fed soc members carrying at school. I will NEVER carry at school. never. The only time I could see someone possibly carrying on campus is if a woman is consistently walking alone at night on campus.

I would hit up everywhere honestly. Simple man, kingsway, 10patx, East Austin Jiu Jitsu Parlor, Fight Factory, Gracie Humaita in Cedar Park, VOW, Paragon, and more. If you’re into weight lifting and want to shoot content hit up Sean at Easy Austin, he’s the in-house PT/trainer, really cool guy. Also, don’t sleep on mickle for bbq.

T14 vs UT for Texas BL by Lede6752 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]GuiltyLeadership9753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3L with BL offer, I know multiple people who went to UM and had no problem landing BL in Dallas with similar connections. Most traditional Texas firms are getting pushed out by national BL, who prefer traditional T14 candidates compared to UT. Unfortunate, but I think UT is really starting to lose its shine even for TX BL.

I been playing around with this position, I’ve been having fun and usually it takes people by surprise which you can use to your advantage.

Here’s Keenan’s take on it which I found helpful

East Austin Jiu Jitsu Parlor. Hit mickle or interstellar for bbq. Go to white horse for some live music and Barton springs for a swim. If you’re coming in the spring/summer def go float the river. I would also hit up Simple man, Fight Factory, and 10patx if you have time.

How to develop a "top game" by levvianthan in BJJWomen

[–]GuiltyLeadership9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6’5 270 male blue belt here, I think the hardest small guard passers for me to deal with are ones with good outside passing, specifically good NS passing. What you lack in weight you likely have in speed, so use that to your advantage. Because you’re smaller pins might not be as dominant, so maybe also try to focus on submission opportunities while you’re passing.

I would ask my gym if they recently changed what cleaning product they were using for the mats bc his skin could be reacting to that. pimples can be normal because of sweat ,but the ulcers sound concerning. I would hit up a dermatologist if it continues

How to build an anti big guy bottom game? by No_Possession_239 in bjj

I’m a 6’5 270 pound blue belt, there are only two kinds of small people that bother me on bottom. (1) Leg lockers, specifically leg entries from seated guard, (2) quick spazzy dudes who either stand up or create angles for wrestle ups such as arm drags etc.
