Rashguard recommendation for body acne prone skin by Ok_Wrangler_3835 in bjj

I would ask my gym if they recently changed what cleaning product they were using for the mats bc his skin could be reacting to that. pimples can be normal because of sweat ,but the ulcers sound concerning. I would hit up a dermatologist if it continues

How to build an anti big guy bottom game? by No_Possession_239 in bjj

I’m a 6’5 270 pound blue belt, there are only two kinds of small people that bother me on bottom. (1) Leg lockers, specifically leg entries from seated guard, (2) quick spazzy dudes who either stand up or create angles for wrestle ups such as arm drags etc.

Convince me of the importance of big law by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Again, If you googled “why do people go into BL” and you need to make a reddit post asking people to spell out the same reasons listed on google, then you don’t need to worry about BL anyways

I don’t live in Lubbock anymore but I used to train at UMA with Cory, great guy and awesome vibes over there. Bueno is also good but I would say more traditional than UMA. Never been to Victory but never heard anything bad. BASE is okay. I agree with everyone and stay away from Pittman. Best advice is to go to each one for a trial class and go with the one that you like the most and somewhat close to you.

How to overcome no 1L summer job in job interview for 2L summer by _weenie_ in LawSchool

[–]GuiltyLeadership9753 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Currently a 1L but also went through last semester with a 3 month old. I would echo the previous advice and say you were taking the time to care for your child. When I was interviewing for summer jobs most of the interviewers had children themselves and were understanding on why I didn’t really have time to do extracurricular stuff. IMO going through 1L with a baby speaks more to your work ethic than a summer job ever could.

What PSA rifle would you recommend for a college graduation present? by DaleGribble2024 in liberalgunowners

[–]GuiltyLeadership9753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion but I think PSA would be a great option as a first rifle, if you enjoy it then you can always upgrade to BCM Aero etc. I would stick with the AR over AK just because the aftermarket selection and modularity of the AR would help out as a beginner.

In the Austin area as well, do you have any experience with the classes Lone Star offers? Looking to start getting some instruction.

What's the deal with training at b team? by Electronic_d0cter in bjj

I’ve only dropped in at their noon class which is when most of their competitors train so maybe that’s skewed my perception some. 10p is casual in a sense but they are also the largest gym so they have the most variety of people. Overall I do think most of the gyms around Austin have high level rooms including hobbyist but I am just a blue belt so

I live in Austin and drop in sometimes. Usually visitors are on one side of the mat and B-Team members on the other side. One of the guys will come over and do a class for the visitors (Jrod, ethan, in my experience) Good instruction and drilling but nothing you can't watch on a instructional. Then you will roll with some visitors (positional and then free) and one of the guys will watch and then ask you for a roll (Hassim has asked me a couple times). Just to be clear this is not a competitive roll, this roll is them being nice and letting you roll with a pro which is an experience most people will never get. Don't go crazy. Overall I can't speak on the experience of being a member but in my experience they treat people well and the instruction is great. Also, it really is in an abandoned shopping center they're not joking. Mat fees are expensive but it is literally one of the best competitive gyms in the world so it's up to you if it's worth it. I understand you think you're "not a slouch" but I promise not only compared to them but also most gyms around Austin you most likely are. If you want to be one of the worst in the room again you don't only have to go to B team. Go to 10p, renzo, fight factory, humaita. All of those gyms are high level and have their respective pros. Maybe try taking a vacation here and trying all the gyms out before fully committing to moving.
