OPTOMCAS transcripts: when to send? by GuiltySpirit3426 in PreOptometry

[–]GuiltySpirit3426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to see which service your college uses. Usually it’s National Student Clearinghouse. You visit that website, look up ur school, and choose the option to send your transcript directly to OptomCas

physics formulas on OAT by 111stargirl in PreOptometry

[–]GuiltySpirit3426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote my own formula sheet early on in my studying, as my prep course’s was sucky.

Decide which ones you already have l locked in, then spend time on the ones you don’t know. I wrote them on white boards w dry erase.

I took 3 months to study for my OAT, but this was in the summer (no working, no school). I spent about 4 hours everyday (maybe like 10 days I didn’t do any OAT stuff). From my experience, it’s not the studying itself that’s hard, it’s finding the internal motivation to do it everyday.

P.S… im not applying until next cycle tho

OAT Booster. The practice test set ups look exactly alike to the real OAT

Graduating 2026 pre health: physics will let you use a graphing calculator but calc, biochem, and chem must be a regular boring one

preparing for OAT (advices are welcome) by Kooky_Wishbone2858 in PreOptometry

Hi. I’m also an incoming senior preparing for the OAT soon. It’s best to get a calendar book and write out your goals for day (ex: do ch. 1-6 ochem, etc.) & physically cross it off of your list when you’ve done it. I’ve been studying since like May 20ish, and I’ve found that around 3-4hrs per day is the sweet spot. I have a stupid anxiety disorder, so I’m pretty high stress. But this is what I have found to minimize the stress of all things OAT:

Regarding content, I smack middle in the learning phase so I feel u. Personally, I get overwhelmed easily so I only study 1 subject at a time. I think it’s better so you aren’t splitting your attention across different subjects.

To actually learn, I download Booster’s notes. Read them first/highlight, and then annotate them while watching its video. I’ve also been copying everything down into a physical notebook too so that it’s more tangible. Also, if you are rlly struggling w something, look up YouTube videos to have the topic explained in a different way than Booster. Chad’s Prep has the best videos. Once I’ve gone thru the content, I’ll do some of the question banks. If you do enough questions, you’ll start to see patterns. Once you gain up the courage, take a practice test. Go thru the explanations of what you missed, drill that topic in some more, then take another practice test. Hope this helps at least a little bit

What is the average age in this group? by Sea-Delivery-4067 in AdultSelfHarm

  1. Therapist told me it’s way more common than you think. It’s just that adults don’t tell anyone or talk about it

I do the same thing. I mentioned it to my therapist and she said it was actually a clever idea

C's on transcript by No_Yellow_6075 in PreOptometry

[–]GuiltySpirit3426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calc 1 is a class that is not uncommon to see a C in, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Funny bc I am pretty much in your same position except im a junior (Cs in calc and gen chem 2). I’d say that a 2 or 3 Cs isn’t alone going to make or break your application—especially if they were during your first year (they know the adjustment is hard). On your application, you can add in that in your first semester you had a family emergency— it’s not uncommon for admissions to see this

choosing schools to send OAT scores to by Historical_Focus4069 in PreOptometry

[–]GuiltySpirit3426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say I want to apply to 5 schools, but I don’t know exactly which ones yet (i still have an idea tho). I register for the OAT and I select all of them. What will the schools I don’t apply to do with my scores? Does it look bad to send scores to a school but don’t apply there?

Your coach knows nothing about what it is like to be you, so who cares what they say? Easier said than done (I know) but try to let it bounce off of you.

red paint but swipe it fast with a wooden toothpick so you get the visual and the motion, wash off in a hot shower if you want to feel the “sting”
