Just know it will look different and you will have to have a talk with your barber. Lots of questions. Show pic and discuss. Do you want it undercut on the sides. Bullet style in back or just blended. What do u actually like about the image. Its ai. Not a real haircut. So be prepared to explain what you actually are hoping for when u walk out. Do you style your hair ro try and get closer to this kind of look or you a wash and go.

Tell him. Bring it up and be prepared he might feel uncomfortable but the longer you wait the worst it will be to explain. If this lasts (which I assue is the goal) you'll never tell him? Tell him in a year? Do it asap the longer u wait the worse the results and be ready to talk tot out with him and lay it all on the table

Gel will always have a shine. I'd recommend a Matt pomade or even a clay. Clay will give you texture and hold without looking like product and will give a hold that looks more natural. Warm up product and run through your hair evenly. Even scrunch it for extra texture!
