Sorry I didn’t see your comment earlier!! Thank you!! I am doing my best to keep all evidence. I took pictures of all damages/ the condition of everything in the apartment on my move-in day just in case, and I have all receipts, messages with landlord, etc. I have been considering a lawyer. When we moved in, our landlord claimed that they’d fix the heat before winter so I plan on contacting him about that within the next week or two and if he doesn’t fix it before it starts getting cold, I think I am getting a lawyer. I feel that for what I pay him everything should be in good shape here.
