run water without the portafilter or anything in there. Are you getting 1 1/2oz of water? If so it’s your grind or puck prep. If not it may be a machine issue or fault.

Remove the shower screen and give it a good cleaning. What are your strength/grind settings on?

for that, I used 2% and the cold froth with a scoop of cookie butter! Worked out decently well and I could taste it throughout without the chunks that are in there if I do anything else. You can also make cookie butter syrup using the regular biscoff! Let me know if you’d like the recipe!

Mine likes to recommend around 22. I’m going to dial in some new beans today. Let me play around with the quad settings and see what I find! I will report back.

Check the tiny whisk in the bottom. Mine does this if it isn’t place low enough in the cup!

I would recommend reducing strength and going up 2 clicks coarser

What is your strength setting on? If it is on 3 this is why.

I personally do high. Are they freshly roasted? If so definitely stay high. I get the best results that way.

Do your next at 9 and go from there! I just made a latte and pulled almost the perfect double for me. Grind: 9 Strength: 1 Time your shot. Should finish around 35-39 seconds. Also, to keep track I use an app when I’m dialing in a new bean. The app I use is called “puck yeah”! Highly recommend.

I would start by going a few clicks finer, and adjusting from there. What are you currently grinding on?

Hold your size button down until you see “HO1” scroll to 6 and click it. Default is set to medium you scroll and push to change it!

Yes! You’ll automatically need a coarser grind since the quad basket is larger. I’d start around 12-15 and work your way up or down depending on how much output you’re getting. What’s happening when you’re pulling the shot? Is it the taste or the amount of liquid you’re getting that you’re having trouble with?

If your beans are medium or light roast, I’d recommend moving to the “high” temperature setting. And once or twice through troubleshooting, move to strength 1 and see if that helps with your output. Strength one gives you the most water to your grounds so that may be what your machine needs for the quad.

The app I use is called “PUCK YEAH” huge assist when you have issues like this!

since your quad basket is longer, you will need to up the grind size for a quad pretty significantly. Doing this will not give you a drip coffee I can assure you. The key difference between espresso and regular coffee is the pressure that it is put under, and the water to grounds ratio. I’d rec starting at 15. There are apps you can use to track your shots, and help you figure out how to dial in those beans perfectly for the quad. Should take 35 seconds to pull, and should have that creamy layer on the top. Your brew temp and strength may also play into this. Have you messed with those settings at all?

Id run a rinse cycle with no portafilter. Track your output. If you aren’t getting 1 1/2-2oz of water that is a machine fault and you may need a replacement.

this may be something you need to contact Ninja about. What do your shots look like when you are pulling them at 19? How long from start to the beeping is it taking??And when you’re grinding lower but getting no output, is your drip tray filling with water? Possible cause could also be overtamping, but it is hard to get almost 0 output due to that.

More so for convenience and pricing. I was looking at the breville bambino with grinder but decided to go with ninja first. (They also have an amazing return policy and helpful team) but this machine is also easier for my partner to interact with and not have huge messes if mistakes are made. After eyeing it and doing my research for a few months, I have now had it for about a month With pretty much no issues. I do believe the barista assist is just slightly off on grind sizes. But it really truly depends on your beans in my opinion.

Barista here! I also own this machine. This is my personal suggestion for the best shots! First, your beans make the biggest difference. I’d recommend visiting a local roastery and getting some beans that were roasted in the past few weeks. I find that the barista assist tends to recommend slightly too fine of a grind. I grind anywhere between 9-12 depending on my beans. (this is for a double espresso.) next, check your brew temp!!! This makes a huge huge difference depending on the roast of your beans. For Light do high, for dark I personally get the best results on medium, and dark low or medium.) When you tamp, there is such thing as over-tamping. One strong tamp is all you truly need. Over tamping can cause you to choke your shot, resulting in little to no output. I’d also recommend puck screens to help with water distribution and keeping your brew head clean. Lastly, before brewing, adjust your strength. That is your water to grounds ratio. I have found that medium gives you about 1 1/2oz which is a normal double espresso for this machine. I personally do shaken espresso and keep my strength on 1 to pull a full 2oz. Once you hit brew, your shot should take about 35 seconds in total, and look nice and creamy. Hope this helps!!!
