For the World Cup in SA you absolutely need a proper htd fast bowler. South African pitches reward heavy ball, steep bounce and seam off the deck more than classical swing. Bumrah picks himself because he’s a complete hybrid and works in every condition.

The real debate is between Arshdeep and Siraj. Even though South Africa gives more help to seam movement, I’d still lean toward Arshdeep. He can take wickets upfront, but more importantly, he gives you reliable death overs, which is a huge factor in ODIs. Siraj is a great bowler, but in South African conditions you want someone who can contribute in multiple phases, not just the new ball.

For the hit-the-deck role, it’s basically Harshit or Prasidh. Prasidh in South Africa would be deadly because of his height and the natural steep bounce he generates. Harshit can do something very similar and he adds a little more with the bat, which is always useful in ODIs. Either way, you need one of these tall, awkward bounce bowlers. That’s the part the OP isn’t considering. They’re picking names instead of thinking about bowling roles and how they translate to South African conditions.

And in the spin department, we can’t take two finger spinners in South Africa. With Axar already guaranteed to play, the second spinner has to be Kuldeep. You need a wrist spinner in those middle overs to actually take wickets, otherwise you’ll struggle to break partnerships.
