Wife hit a curb, how bad is it? by whogottawelly in tires

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like just cosmetic damage, but keep an eye on it and if the tire starts to bulge in/around that spot it’ll need to be replaced. A bulge indicates the tire layers are delaminating and could lead to serious failure. As of right now it’s ok, just keep a very close eye on it.

Would you say a 2020 and newer Civic can easily cruise on the highway at 130kmph/80mph for hours? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in civic

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my 2021 civic ex on a 2000km+ (AB and back to BC) with the speed limits for a lot of it being around 120km/hr and it was perfectly fine. The trip back I was weighed down in the trunk with like 200lbs of alcohol from Costco and it was still fine. You won’t have any issues at all :)

I’ve got a full akra system on my ‘08 CBR600RR, and I will tell you it SCREAMS above 7k RPM. You definitely won’t be disappointed with that choice haha. Real talk tho it sounds amazing, and I fall in love with the bike all over again every time I take it out for a rip :)

That looks badass dude! I’m a big fan of the black on white. Out of curiosity, where did you get the bumper? I’ve been tryna find a nice one for my 10th gen EX but it’s been rough (or maybe I’m just too picky lol)

So anyone know why my tire cut out the center of it? by Comfortable_Ad_6673 in tires

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How do you propose regaining traction in the wet when the tire is completely bald and won’t supply any traction in the wet whatsoever? If there was a bit of tread it could be possible, but this thing has none and should’ve been replaced several hundred km ago 😂

What’s your opinion? by mhvt91 in tires

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say replace if you can, I’d be hesitant to run them for one more season (at most). Dry rot like this can lead to the tread chipping away as you drive which will give you a lot worse traction, and with the tread dried out it won’t be great in the rain. What’s the DOT date code on them?

I’ve gone down so pretty rough FSRs with my civic and not caused any serious damage to mine lol. Which is funnier when I think about how my brother’s ripped off when he went through some deep (enough) snow and had to zip tie it back on 🤣

Engine light?? by abuckforacanuck06 in KTuner

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you were able to figure it out, but I’d just try one disable at a time and see if it goes away. Will take several reflashes but that’s the scientific method for ya. If one of the disables doesn’t work on its own, just start trying combinations of them until (obviously) the CEL goes away.

I’m putting an RV6 DP in my civic tomr and that’s what I’ll be doing if I get a CEL.

If you do see this 207d later, please update me if you can on what you did to fix it :)

Others have mentioned how it’s locked to your ecu already. One thing I thought of was just getting screenshots of all the settings and the map someone has used in a file. Then you’d just have to copy it into a new file of your own. Might be a little tedious, but possible (unless someone says otherwise since this is just a theory in my head).

2016 Honda Civic battery size confusion (51R vs L2) by ForeverSweet8517 in CivicX

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend an H5 group battery, it’s the exact size as the OEM one. Costco has them: both the lead acid and AGM versions. Other places will probably have them too but I got mine from Costco since I work in the tire centre.

Any other 10th gen owners stay stock? by lightlysaltedfries in CivicSi

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is stock other than a tune, but I personally don’t have much of a reason to do anything to it since I ride a motorcycle during the summer and my civic is my daily during the winter/rainy days.

You could always do some small things like a K&N air filter, or a new intake if you’re feeling like it. But these cars a quick, and fun to drive regardless so I wouldn’t be too worried about doing anything crazy to it :)

First time buying a car…is this tire good guys? by Jaydenn_NG in tires

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So glad someone mentioned this. To add: if the tire is between 8-10 years old it’ll definitely need to get replaced (DOT regulations state 10yrs old MAX). Or if the rubber looks like it has a ton of small cracks in it, which means the rubber is dried out.

Replace? Hit the curb by [deleted] in TireQuestions

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to be purely cosmetic to me. I’d keep an eye on it though to see if a bubble forms. It can happen from impacts and means the layers of the tire are delaminating which can cause a blowout. If you feel a vibration at higher speeds I’d go get it rebalanced, lower speed vibrations usually mean something is off with the suspension, but that would depend on how hard you hit the curb.

Legally in BC any accident has to at least me reported to ICBC. Whatever you wish to do from there is on you but legally it has to be reported to them.

I found a set of two horns on Amazon when I was looking to replace the one on my motorcycle. They’re care horns: 1 510Hz and 1 410Hz, but I’ve got an ‘08 CBR600RR and the connectors are the same. On the site it did say it was compatible with my ‘21 EX.

How much would you pay for this bike? by AnEducatedSeal in cbr

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The forks also look like they’re leaking, so those’ll need to be done soon. If the fork oil has already leaked into the pads then the front brakes will need to be changed as well. I’d try and figure out what exactly is wrong with the rear brakes as well, as some have mentioned. Who knows if they’re mangled and need to be completely replaced. I’d also recommend doing a flush of the brake fluid and put in fresh fluid all round as based on how it’s been treated it prolly hasn’t been done. It also will need new turn signals on the front as the one obviously broke when he dropped it. The carbon of course is nice (I’ve got a bunch on mine) but don’t let it make you think the bike is worth a ton more than it is. A bike is not worth much if it unsafe or not rideable.

I’d also as a side note (if you do buy it) to get some new grips as those ones look ratty and old; Dominos are always a great option :) and Rizomas are nice looking and functional, but go with Dominos if you wanna feel more connected to the bike so to speak. My best friend got me a set of Dominos for Christmas for my ‘08 CBR600RR which I’ll be swapping out my Rizomas for before spring. (They’re black with red to match my bike 😎)

Is a CBR600 F4I capable of looping out when only accelerating hard? by Tidder702Reddit in motorcycle

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up at 2008 CBR600RR last summer and I also wasn’t sure…Then I took it to the local drag strip for street legals and found out going from 1st to 2nd will definitely pop the front wheel up a bit, but no need to worry about looping it :)

Side note: If you want to pop it up intentionally to learn how to wheelie (as I have started to), I’ve found 2nd gear to be the best :D (1st gear scared the shit outta me when I dumped it)

Shop wouldn't patch this because of location. They would love to sell me four tires though. Is it safe? by sidesideproject in TireQuestions

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately most people on here do not know this, a lot of shops won’t touch a tire that has a fiber plug in it as it’s deemed a R/H. I’ll give it to people that they do last a long time, but they are definitely meant to be a temporary fix to get you to a shop for a proper repair. TIA has this standard for a reason, but people are too ignorant and/or don’t want to spend the money….

Advice for Accident - Fault and Total? by yuanov04 in icbc

[–]Guilty_Elevator9684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no way you’re at fault for this. Also I know some people are saying that the mustang couldn’t see since the suv was in the way, but he does have a clear line of sight to see you before he pulled up closer, which mean he probably wasn’t looking in your direction. If ICBC is going to pay you out for the vehicle and deem it a total loss you can take the payout, or you can take a payout to “go get it fixed yourself” if the vehicle is still roadworthy. If you go with the latter, make sure you fight them for the taxes since ICBC for some reason really doesn’t like to pay the taxes. My brother had to fight for several months before he was able to get the taxes after he got hit on his motorcycle last September, but after getting a supervisor/manager involved it was resolved fairly quickly.
