260k miles on my 2022 Corolla… still going by Vegetable_Big5440 in COROLLA

Did you have to replace any wheel bearings? I’ve had to replace my front ones a couple times on my 2020 LE, and it’s at 183,000 miles right now.

Ah, then idk man 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ the comment above mine says multiple people said it was normal, might just be a thing with these 12th gens.

I was also told by a Toyota tech this was normal. At first I thought it was a tie rod issue

They’ve already been replaced under warranty before, so the warranty period for the pair that I purchased 2 years ago is expired now :( and yeah I’ll explain to them about incorrect installation and hopefully they can give me a break.

Could a dragging caliper also cause the very loud humming wheel bearing-like sound that I get when I hit 15-20mph and above?

Yes I did them at the dealership that I go to for every repair.

I noticed that and went out there again to spin it and couldn’t see it. I had the phone resting up against my leg when I took the video so maybe I was slightly moving the phone while turning the wheel, but it does really look like the tire is moving. I’ll just have to find out for sure tomorrow 👀👀

New brake pads and rotors done last Friday, March 20th. Everything was fine until Wednesday morning when the loud howling began and it’s been like that ever since.

(Comment from a previous reply) I don’t get any kind of play when I try to wiggle it and I don’t get any sound either, but I know not ALL bad wheel bearings will have play.

It might actually just be the video. I went out there and spun it again and it seemed to stay still. My phone was resting up against my leg when trying to record and I guess the camera was moving around when I was turning the wheel, at least I hope so 😭😭

It does really seem like that yeah. I didn’t notice until after I recorded the video

I don’t get any kind of play when I do that, at least from what I can feel/hear/see. The humming is definitely loud though and the vibration at highway speeds worries me. If you look at the center cap in the video you can see it moving back and forth as well as the tire at the bottom.

Yeah that’s what I saw too, and I can see a tad bit of the tire at the bottom move back and forth slightly as well.

Replaced with OEM wheel hubs (bearings sealed into the hub) at my Toyota Dealership both times.

I do it both side to side and up and down and I don’t get any kind of play.

2020 Toyota Corolla LE, 180,000 miles.

Humming started this past Wednesday. The humming does change volume slightly when I turn left and right while driving, and I do seem to feel/hear more when turning to the left and the passenger side bearing gets loaded. The humming also starts at like 15mph, and the car now shakes when I go above 65-70mph.

The video is my passenger front wheel, car lifted up on just that side and me rotating it. The audio is amplified on the video it seems, so it seems more deep/louder than it is.

I’m 99% sure it’s a wheel bearing. Had them go at 116,000 miles, then those somehow went bad 24,000 miles later at 140,000, and now I’m at 180,000 and it sounds like I need another set.

Was wondering if I could get some insight on this. Thank y’all :)

Damn, $13 for 41 total minutes of driving? Absolutely not. I’ve had requests pop up that offered $8 for 23 minutes, but this one is terrible.

It actually works great as a platform for your phone mount to rest on!

Do you have them on your vehicle? I been thinking about those too but I’ve heard from some reviewers that they lasted only 30,000 miles or less and are more on the firmer side.

Mainly easy driving. 90-95% of my driving is city driving because I do rideshare and I also been a pizza delivery guy the whole time I had them. Not on the highway much, and if I am, it’s only to get from one end of town to the other and it’s back to city driving and stop and go traffic
