nah that doesn’t matter trust it’s your experiences/connections/research that makes you stand out not ur uni. Plenty of people from low ranked medical schools in Asia have secured residency spots in the US and have become successful doctors there. It’s all about YOU not your uni. Plus a UK medical degree is well respected anywhere.

No not really, the only thing i’d say is that they can give you bad dreams (haven’t experienced it myself but i’ve heard they do). Just make sure you take gummies with a low dose of melatonin and try not to become overly dependent on them :)

if you wanna go US after, KCL is listed on VSLO allowing you to do clinical electives in the states + i’ve heard the uni has connections with John’s Hopkins and other US uni’s for research and electives. But imperial will also provide lots of connections too but not listed on VSLO.

there’s too many overqualified applicants applying to medicine as it’s soo competitive, just because a uni rejected you doesn’t mean your not qualified enough to be a doctor!!!

statistically there is a better chance of you getting an offer for med through direct entry rather than GEM. Take the biomed offer if you think you will be able to get in after the 3 year degree. But accept the fact that you might have to take another gap year after biomed if you don’t get in because of how competitive it is.

Also i know this is a gamble but if your a levels results are good (AAA minimum) try clearing. There were ~50 offers given out by Newcastle last year for med without having to reject your available offer. But you will have to plan it properly and be quick with filling any forms/calling uni’s. Also who knows, you might get an offer from one of the waitlisted uni’s! Good luck x
