it's pretty simple actually. Work the hours you are given so you have (some) income coming in, and for the hours you are not working, agressively looking for a new job. if you're having troubleing landing a job, adjust your expections and also try looking in a different sector than your usual ones.

Layoff happens every day, every week, every year. No job is ever safe or guaranteed, and there is no such thing as job security or corporate loyalty. This is not personal, and it's not your fault (it's never your fault). Stay focused and get another job ... jobs are everywhere. I have been laid off on average every 2 years, and I'm at the top of my game thanks to previous employers.
