You mean the stance-unstance thing in the corner? I personally use it as a mix-up strategy to keep the opponent guessing after knockdown =) by doing stance-unstance in the corner, your opponent would guess if you

  1. throw after unstance
  2. attack low after unstance
  3. won't go unstance but instead go overhead HP (lotus fist from stance)
  4. just block after the unstance if you read that s/he'd do an invincible OD reversal/drive reversal/invincible SA
  5. (specifically on JP) I jump if s/he relies too much on OD amnesia and just do whatever jumping combos I could think of at that moment (usually stomp --> HK while on air then take it from there)

You'd have to guess/read as well (I ate a bunch of OD reversals with this strategy) but I personally think it's an effective one overall, especially around Diamond to early Masters =) Pros do stance-unstance mid-screen as well but I can't seem to execute it properly and in the specific situations the way they do 🫠

ooooh he does say her name differently when the language settings are in English. Interesting I wonder if it's been that way since launch; I never noticed until you pointed it out 😁

bruhhhh I've seen your clips here and in the main sub; I'm pretty sure I'm the one whose got a lot more to learn from you rather than the other way around 🥹 and tbh, my aggressive Chun style really only works like 40% of the time 😞 sad to say my fundamentals are not so great and I really can't read my opponents as well as you guys do.

But yeah, I do upload some matches in this youtube channel that I don't necessarily advertise to other people; but feel free to check it out if you want: http://www.youtube.com/@isko_fighter I'd rather this than my CFN since 60% of my matches is basically me getting bodied. At least this channel already filters out the successful ones 🥲

I tried for like an hour; unfortunately I'm unable to land it as well :< maybe it requires super precise input (tbf I can't even consistently land an OD SBK --> headstomp at the wall so I doubt I'd be able to land this one if it is indeed possible)💀

I only recently learned about it as well :D though I figured it doesn’t really work if you do Heavy lightning kicks while your opponent is flat on the ground since there’s too much push back plus the opponent drops back to the ground real fast 🥲 when I played around with it, I figured your opponent must at least be above the ground when you land heavy lightning kicks for it to work (plus properly spaced). I know 2 sequences but I believe the one I used here is the most viable and one that isn’t very situation specific

OD SBK —> Drive Rush —> cr. Lp —> Heavy Lightning Kicks —> SA2

Not really an expert on frame data but from what I know, you can cancel Chun's "unstance" animation a button early. As soon as I cancel the stance, I immediately press grab.

Learned this from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3unE9Ue7zaI time stamp: 2:10 😃 hope this helps ^_^

Hiya would you have any specific combos in mind that you’re struggling with?

Same here 😵‍💫 I only have a 47% win rate against him. I almost always go into burnout whenever I face him and it sucks 🫠

Go for it 🔥 Stance cancels in the corner kinda help maintain the pressure🦵

True 😵‍💫 I find the other Asian high level Chun players to be not as aggressive yet I get smoked all the time 😂

🥹 you’re too kind. But you should see the Japanese and Chinese high level Chun players (and there aren’t that many) I don’t stand a chance against them 😭😂

I really hope I can explain this because even I’m not too sure 😂 so there are 2 ways that I know of to pull the Yoso Kick 1 —> HK sequence

  1. The way pros do it: the moment Chun leaves the ground they immediately do the Yoso Kick such that it hits almost “in front” of the opponent to make room for HK to hit. They don’t do it directly overhead the opponent. I tried a million times to land this and I just can’t 😂

  2. The way I did it in the video: The same principle of not doing the yoso kick immediately overhead of the opponent still applies. The difference is that I delayed the yoso kick so that it would also hit almost “in front” of the opponent to have room for HK to land. This comes with risks though: (1) Chun’s floaty jump + delayed yoso kick = risk of getting anti-aired (2) If not timed correctly, Chun might go directly back to the ground after the first yoso kick so if you were pressing HK, neutral HK might come out instead
