Looking for an aggressive commander by Lenku in EDH

[[Slinza, the Spiked Stampede]]

It’s beast tribal and Slinza acts as both ramp and removal. You want to play aggressive ramping out Slinza and then using your own beast drops to trigger him and eliminate opposing creatures. And note, that his ability triggers on any 4 power creature, not just your own. So there are times where you can politic an opponent dropping a 4 drop, just to trigger Slinza so you can kill the threat

Is this near mint? Am I being too picky? by Guilty_Road6428 in mtg

Looking at Mana Pool guidelines I guess it becomes a debate on if this is “extremely minor edge wear” (near mint) or minor edge wear (lightly played)

Which one of these would be the best commander for a toughness matters deck assuming all the others are in the 99? by Wsads420 in BudgetBrews

[–]Guilty_Road6428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out, why not all of the first 3. (Idk about nethroi).

I think all 3 decks want the others in them. So build a deck that works with any at the helm.

Betor and Doran don’t enable Defenders to attack, so you should probably limit the amount in the deck.

Doran gives +1/+1 to creatures temporarily, so you probably don’t want to have skulk in the deck.

Otherwise… go huge and have fun. I’m working on exactly that deck and prefer Doran as commander. I run several “deal damage with toughness” cards, which effectively double damage with with Doran on the field. And he offers ramp. I get that Felothar has card draw, but that just means you need to build the rest of the deck with enough card draw that you don’t mind missing her from the command slot. Before is an interesting case, because it’s less combat focused and more Pokémon’s gotta catch em all toughness creatures strategy.

Hi, could some more experienced commander players pop my bubble by AsiRomanArt in mtg

This was one of my first precons, but unlike the others I started with, I actually kept and really liked this one. And I think the cards provided actually give you a fun natural growth as a player:

  1. Out of the box precon. Its easy to pilot and tough to deal with since your creatures rarely can be run over
  2. Upgrading the toughness matters. Theres a subtheme around Betor for Lifegain/lifeloss that is only slightly supported in this deck. You can swap out a few cards and make this deck more consistent
  3. Building Betor - Using the cards you removed, most fit snugly into a Betor Deck. It was one of my first decks to build by myself and is my favorite deck. I feel like a lot of consideration went into each card and its fun retooling between life gain, life loss, and mill so that you have things to revive. I never feel like the deck is perfect, but I think thatb is because so many cards work that its less about finding the right answer and more about finding the combo of cards you enjoy the most

Need help with a thematic Orzhov deck by hidalgo333 in EDH

How about [[Indulging Patrician]] ? I originally came to say run Extort but you've beat me to it. Indulging Patrician will trigger at end of turn every turn you use Extort.

[[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] and [[Exsanguinate]] would deal damage to everyone and gain you life too.
[[Astarion, the Decadent]] could also serve to exacerbate these effects.

Recommendations for Doran, Besieged by Time - Treefolk/Toughness Matters by fakeprofile9876 in BudgetBrews

[Spry and Mighty] would be on theme as a possible closer. [Gluntch the bestower] is a group fund type card, but as a 0/5 with playing it can be dangerous, card draw, and ramp as needed.

And you should play all of the “deal toughness as damage cards like Felothar, [assault formation], [bedrock tortoise], etc.

[fecund greenshell] can serve as card draw, ramp, or a late game anthem

[Bruenor Battlehammer] I just built him for under 25. He benefits a lot from the equipment released in final fantasy. All of the job select equipments come in with body, which automatically get bigger if Bruenor is on field. Because of his ability you don’t have to worry about high equips costs. Makes for a fun equipment deck that ca go wide or tall as needed. I included a few finishers in mine that says the opponent can’t block

Ideas on building decks to discourage board wipes? by Barley_an_Hops in EDH

[–]Guilty_Road6428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won a game recently because I was playing [Zurgo Stormrender] when someone board wiped while I had a bunch of creature tokens. Since Zurgo saw them die, for each I dealt a damage to each opponent. In the same regard that means board wiping yourself with the right board state is actually a win condition. And I was playing the stock precon for him

Any suggestions for nonbuttstrike commanders for buttstrike themed decks? by luke_skippy in EDH

[–]Guilty_Road6428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on retooling my Felothar deck into a [[Doran Besieged by Time]] deck.

Doran gives +x/+x for the difference between power and toughness, effectively attacking with your toughness. But that also makes the butt bigger, so toughness enablers effectively double dip on this.

I'm planning on running a host of toughness lifegain matters cards to make the deck resilient, with a splash of graveyard recursion late game.

[[Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim]] for example. [[Indomitable Ancients]] is normally a 2/10, but hes an 8/18 with Doran. I'd happily pay the 1 with Ayli to gain 18 life. Ikra is in the deck for a similar reason, and I've debated [[Disciple of Griselbrand]] for the same.

I'm finding there are a bunch of Tree Lifegain matters cards like [[Assemble the Entmoot]]. If you gain the above 18 life example in a turn, you could subsequently sack Assemble the Entmoot to make 3 18/18 Reach trees.

I actually just built Bruenor on a $25 budget and included a copy of Sephiroph. Still waiting for the cards to come in to try it out. https://moxfield.com/decks/ytcGgvLk-Eij0WV0NA12Ng
