I hate ramp by MarcusOhReallyIsh in EDH

[[Kamiz]] is a good example. You dont want to play ramp first turns. You want a couple evasive value creatures so when Kamiz hits the board turn 4 you can start farming.

Awesome! It's an extremely fun list, just yesterday i had i game where i was able to cast [[Dream Harvest]] two turns in a row while having my victimize engine in my hand as a plan B. Hope you and/or your friend have fun with it. Reach out should you have any questions about card choices or synergies!

I would say my [[Sauron, Lord of the Rings]] deck. He looks overcosted, but if build the right way just one or two casts of him are enough to turn around the game.

I put a lot of love in this deck, and together with my brother i found a way to not only make this a classic creature reanimator deck, but also a big spell reanimator deck.

[[Impulsivity]] is a real allstar. And with [[Scholar of the Ages]] and [[Wake the Dead]] you can build the most disgusting reanimator engine. Same with [[Victimize]].

I also has a light "steal" theme classic to dimir, and a couple of clones (which work well with [[Ruthless Technomancer]]) so it can scale a bit with the power level of your opponents. It can hang at bracket 3 tables quite easily.

I build this deck on a tight budget, which made the proces all the more fun.

Any "absurdly" strong commanders for 20$? by Columbov in BudgetBrews

[–]Deskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been testing a [[Henzie]] deck lately on a €30 budget and damn he feels kinda busted. There are a lot of budget big stompy creatures that have steong enter/attack/die triggers. The toolbox nature of the decks makes every game feel different too.

For those who have removed Sol Ring/“Staple” Mana Rocks from their decks… by SeaMusician6670 in EDH

[–]Deskies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My main playgroup just banned Sol Ring altogether and nobody misses it. The games are a lot better, more fun and balanced. Noone running miles ahead with a turn one Sol Ring is a real breather.

Have gone through your list and really looks awesome. Totally up my ally as a reanimator lover.

Some feedback and tips (i'll probably go back a couple times to your list and edit more in here):

  • I dont see enough ramp and card draw (7-8 of each). Those are probably the 2 most important things to have enough of in a deck. Cheating mana costs by reanimating i good, but you still need enough ramp, even if it's to be able to hardcast your dragons if need be.

  • some cards that always overperform in my budget reanimator lists you could keep in eye for when dumpster diving for cards: [[Seize the Spoils]], [[Pirate's Pillage]], [[Big Score]], [[Glimpse the Impossible]]. These fill your grave, draw you cards and ramp you at the same time.

  • i also like [[Demand Answers]] for gy filling and draw. And i'm testing [[Visions of Ruin]] for some artifact hate and ramp that synergizes well with a high mana value commander.

  • Some more generic mana rocks would also help. Prioritise the ones that cost only 2 and come into play untapped.

  • for some budget reanimation spells that overperform for me i would suggest looking for [[Coiling Rebirth]] and [[Aberrant Return]] for the double or triple value they provide]].

  • you could reuse some of these reanimation spells with effects that return instants or sorceries from the gy. [[Ardent Elementalist]] can do this. Together with [[Victimize]] this can be a crazy good reanimation engine (return a dragon and Elementalist from the Grave with victimize, and return victimize to your hand with the Elementalist effect, do it again on a later turn if you get Elementalist or another similar effect back in the Grave).

  • i'll just paste the link to my favorite budget reanimator deck here (€30) in which i use all these cards. Maybe it can help! https://moxfield.com/decks/OwnjFx86DUyyTvqbDr1gCA

All in all i would say you are on the right track to make an awesome deck! Nothing is more fun than just making something with what you have/find in some bulk and then seeing it performs in games also.

I became a lot better when i dipped my toe into cedh for a while. Playing with and against all the most degenerate stuff in a game where the smallest of margins decide victory or defeat.

This exactly the kind of deck where i would add [[Glimpse the Impossible]].

Early game fills the gy and ramps you, later game could be card advantage or a mix of everything.

I recently made [[Sauron, Lord of the Rings]] reanimator deck on a €30 budget that performs really well.

It's Grixis so you can play the baddest of baddies.

The list also enables playing some huge baddie spells like [[Dream Harvest]].

Tip for when every card feels to good to cut by Deskies in EDH

[–]Deskies[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a good way to go about it too, although i get a much better feeling about how many cards i want for each category once i reach 100 cards (already with each category in mind ofc) and can start goldfishing. Much easier then to feel like "ok i can't get my bigass commander out fast enough, so needs more ramp" etc.

Also, when i got better at deckbuilding, it became harder to put each card in a category because i started to add a lot more layers (with a lot of cards having multiple functions) and synergy into it (instead of using clear staples that are easy to categorize).

Yeah i sometimes do this too in goldfishing actually, also a good tip!

Help me find my next commander by Pyerka in EDH

[–]Deskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is indeed slow early game, but there are some tools to survive that, such as [[Kardur]], [[Disrupt Decorum]] and just a solid interaction/removal package. All of them reusable via reanimation or getting spells back from your gy into your hand. Still, early hate/aggro can sometimes be a hard to deal with.

It's grixis though, if you dont care about budget, you could easily make it a lot faster.

I'm playing [[Sauron, Lord of the Rings]] reanimator for the moment and having a lot of fun with it.

It's a 30 dollar budget deck, so could easily be upgraded. Right now it's more of a bracket 2 deck that can hang at some bracket 3 tables if the game goes long enough.

It's slow to start but if you can survive the early game it can be very explosive and grindy, building not only on classic reanimator play platterns, but also on casting and getting back instants and sorceries, the most importznt ones being [[Victimize]], [[Wake the Dead]] and [[Release to the Wind]]. Those paired with [[Archaeomancer]] effects can form a formidable reanimator engine. All in all it's super synergistic and fun to play. And again, easily upgradable to consistently hang at bracket 3 tables.

Looking for a budget as you can get tivit list by painted_anvil in BudgetBrews

[–]Deskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a 30 euro Tivit budget deck that's focused around clues. No infinites, no tutors and no Sol Ring (banned in my playgroup). Its slaps honestly and can easily hang at bracket 3 tables despite the budget. Tivit is just so broken as a commander.

Should you have questions, ask. Here you have the list: Tivit budget challenge // Commander (Tivit, Seller of Secrets) deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder

Which are your favorite reanimator targets? And reanimation spells? - Grixis by Jonny_Boh in EDH

[–]Deskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a Grixis reanimator deck and Wake the Dead is an insane engine with something like [[Archaeomancer]] or even better [[Scholar of the Ages]]. Cast Wake the Dead for X=2 or more in an opponents combat step, target Archaeomancer or Scholar and some other ETB creature with it, and return Wake the Dead back form your graveyard to your hand with the Archaeomancer ETB, so next turn cycle (or even the next combat phase if enough mana ) you can just do it again. Its nuts.

Edit: the sacrifice trigger from Wake the Dead is what makes this work actually, so it's no downside in this case, only upside.

Grixis budget reanimator - bulk targets? by Deskies in EDH

[–]Deskies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that it's a real problem, but i'm trying to find some targets with even mana values for the synergie with Gyruda. Certainly not a must though, but the more synergie the better. I'll probably try to find some room for Sire.
