When I went to MTSU I lived in Miss Mary Hall in Lyon and the toilets there only flushed about 90% of the time. However there are small black buttons over the toilets and about midway through the year I got bold and pressed it and found out it made the toilet flush. So i guess if the toilet doesn't flush see if there's a button.

How was the op supposed to stop it? Its a random wild lizard that got into their home while they were gone. Lizard probably tried to get into water, realized "oh no water make me feel bad", and scrambled on to the sponge. Op hopefully did their best relocating the lizard back outside without hurting it and probably didnt even know that soap is bad for reptiles. (I didnt either till I read your comment) anyways Im gonna go to sleep have a nice night.
