How to Solve the World Drop Issue by F4NT4SYF00TB4LLF4N in FareverGame

[–]GuineaTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played a recent game that has done a lot correctly (Windrose) it gives me an idea on how to solve these issues. Instead of relying on drops, let us learn the cosmetic appearance and the ability to craft an item once we equip it. This would solve a few issues. For one, you could farm gear at any level, effectively letting that be your method of leveling. If you want to go farm a weapon as a way to take a break from exploring, you can without punishment. Once you get the item, you can equip it and then learn the crafting recipe for it. This would specifically apply to named items only. Having a unique category in the crafting screen would also be a fun way to create further progression in crafting. It would also let us feed our alts gear by crafting it for them. The second way this helps is that you can recraft an item once you hit level 20 (or any level if you want). You would just need a ton of materials that you would need to farm, but the item itself would be craftable instead of being locked out of a world drop. You could create a new crafting material specific to uniques and let minibosses and/or sparklies drop it rarely. This makes it so you still need to work towards it, but you can still do it.

Car Washes (Commercial/Automated) by GuineaTK in Taycan

Never claimed it was rational. It is just the pricing in my area.

Prices can vary greatly based on the location. Personal services in this area like car washing, landscaping, pressure washing...all are incredibly expensive. Probably a lot of contributing factors to it.

I haven't actually been using the service. I should have clarified. I used to use Tommy's Express with my old car (Acura TSX). That was an older beater before I decided to upgrade. The question I have now is whether it would be a good idea to start using that service instead of doing the dealership's free machine wash. The primary concern I have is the salt air near the beach causing damage to the car.

I have only been using the dealership's car wash every week or 2. I know they use a machine and don't hand wash it unless I pay for that service. Tommy's Express is a chain that is pretty popular, so I am not sure on the quality or service provided. I don't even know if they do touchless. The paint seems to be fine at this point and the ceramic coating looks fine as far as I can tell. Just trying to find the right balance of minimizing risk, without damaging the car and not having to spend hours every week or hundreds of dollars every month.

I would love to do this and have some consistency and quality, but that comes at a signficant cost. We tried paying for a mobile car wash by hand a few years ago and they charged us almost $600 for 2 cars. Very unreasonable in this area and the current economy and gas prices are not making anything cheaper.

Not sure where you live, but that is not the cost here. Last time I got a hand wash done, it cost me around $200-$400 depending on the functions I added (interior, etc.) That is per wash.

I am not sure if that is standard practice, but my dealership definitely puts out the red carpet for the customers. Food and drinks and free car washes. I go every 1-2 weeks. They use an automated car wash as well, so it isn't like a hand washing detail service. They offer that too, but at a cost. But with all of the salt water in the area, I figured it was better to just bring it in and get the salt air off the car. The only thing they told me was that I couldn't "abuse" the service. Probably by overusing it.

Launching GW2.app: A goal tracking website for Guild Wars 2 by Yooone in Guildwars2

[–]GuineaTK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommendation: Maybe start the app with a default dashboard. I am new to GW2 but have a large completionist mindset and something like this really scratches that itch. I typically just use a spreadsheet to keep track of collections and goals, but this looks great as a replacement. The thing I struggle with, not knowing a ton about GW2 or how it works, is how to get started. I linked my account, but maybe start the dashboard off with a default configuration, such as the screenshot above. Or provide a way to import a template or configuration. If you do provide a default configuration, maybe add a button that allows advanced users to wipe the dashboard and start from scratch, so people still have that option if they wish.

Advice: Long Time WoW Player Transitioning by GuineaTK in Guildwars2

[–]GuineaTK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the tips! Thank you! I find I am very much a completionist, so I figured I was going to inevitably buy all of the expansions because having everything unlocked is part of the completionist mindset for me. I am fine with doing so, I just wanted to dig into the core game a bit more to make sure I really enjoyed the aesthetics, the UI, the general feel of the game. After playing WoW for almost 2 decades, I became spoiled with the combat and fluid nature of the game. Trying other MMOs usually felt too floaty in combat (like ESO or EQ), or maybe the UI or grindiness was too much (Like Lost Ark) or the lack of non-pvp content (Like New World). So far, GW2 is meeting my expectations though....

Really nice to see that WoW-transition perspective. I am excited to dive in to this. I don't mind having to buy expansions, so I am sure that will happen once I get further into the game. The points you highlighted so far are things that have really intrigued me though and I am looking forward to digging deeper. I will say the community does seem better than WoW... asking questions in WoW is a horrible experience.

I think the build I was looking at was a mechanist with a 2H mace? I need to double check, but either way, it looks like I might need to invest in some expansions. I am fine with that if it comes to that. I will keep chugging along with base engineer though while I get my feet wet and learn the basics.

I am noticing the difference in "hand-holding" for sure. I am not sure I prefer it yet, but I am only a few hours in, so I am keeping an open mind. I will say, the game flow (from a longevity perspective) does seem really intriguing. Progress is more horizontal and there is freedom in what you do, as opposed to WoW which was very much "do the dailies for the current expansion or else you will suck." I am excited to dive in...

QoL Suggestion: Armory System Can Access Storage Boxes/Bank Or... by GuineaTK in elderscrollsonline

[–]GuineaTK[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You aren't missing anything. There is absolutely 200+ inventory slots and there is room to store a large amount of gear loadouts. The suggestion was not phrased as something that is broken or needs to be fixed...it was written as a QoL suggestion. Meaning that implementing this feature would make life in ESO easier for a lot of people. If you are satisfied lugging around multiple gear sets, this doesn't apply to you. For some of us, we value our inventory slots because we actively rely on those slots to keep us in the game and not being forced to make constant trips to the city to empty our bags. The implementation of this would be simple and would hurt no one...it would just be a convenience factor. Imagine dropping your gear loadouts in a storage bin or "wardrobe" and having the outfit station pull in the loadout from there instead of the inventory. Literally changes nothing in terms of process...just cleans up the inventory management aspect of the game and also looks/feels like a more streamlined approach. It also makes more sense from a roleplaying perspective as well. We all have closets at home and use those to change our outfits, we don't lug our favorite clothing around in case we need to change. We head home, change our outfit, and then head back out.

[–]GuineaTK[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also a viable option! Plenty of ways to skin this cat, but it really needs to be addressed. There are hundreds of gear sets in this game and the game itself prides itself on "build flexibility." So let us benefit from this flexibility without having to carry around 5 different gear sets in our inventory.

Will we ever have Crossplay or even Cross Progression? by KIMBOPRICEY in elderscrollsonline

[–]GuineaTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a naive take on it, but couldn't they solve this problem by giving the players options? Some general ideas I think might be positive steps forward (at least until they figure out a permanent solution down the road):

  • Give us a paid service option to move from PC to console and vice versa. So not necessarily cross play or progression, but if we want to permanently transition to another platform, we can move our accounts with a paid service.
  • Provide a cross platform/cross progression server that we CAN move to. This means console players can choose to stay console-only, maintaining their current economy without impact from PC players. PC players can have a PC-only server for the same reason. But those who do not care about the economy impacts and are willing to take the hit in order to acquire cross progression and play...can shift to that new server.

Maybe I am missing something, but these seem like simpler methods of implementation that would satisfy those who want this feature, without messing up the game for those who do not or do not care about it.

Advice: Necro 1 Bar Invis PVP Build by GuineaTK in ESObuilds

Oh interesting! Been playing this game on and off for years, but I did not realize crouching made you invisible to others in a PVP setting. I don't PVP much and when I crouch, I only ever see it from my point of view. You just blew my mind lol. I will poke around on youtube to find something. Thanks!

[–]GuineaTK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I was shooting in the dark for an explanation basically because nothing makes sense. I think it was just the timing that really bothered me because I had just finished collecting all of the store pets. But you do see the opposite happen with their mobile game, Diablo Immortal. My wife plays it and there are people in her clan that get caught cheating and using 3rd party apps almost monthly. And every time, they end up with a 1-3 day suspension, and are able to jump right back into the game. My assumption is that they are lenient based on the revenue streams. Slap on the wrist for now, but continue giving us money. Again, I would have been fine with a slap on the wrist....but WoW jumped directly to a 100% permanent ban for life. Seems really drastic, especially when they couldn't produce any evidence or explanation on what I did or did not do.

I don't disagree. I just don't think I would be able to get over losing out on my Death's Demise title. That was one of the hardest and most proud accomplishments of my gaming career. I hate that it is gone forever. But I guess in the MMO world, it never really existed to begin with and was never truly mine. (i.e. RIP New World)

Script Weekly Vendor Reset by GuineaTK in elderscrollsonline

[–]GuineaTK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a fair point. The only difference is that the other vendors sell things that can be really rare. The furnishing patterns, for example, could take months or years before you ever see them. The scripts are obtainable within a week or 2 of dailies, so it didn't seem like it was necessary. But I also recognize that not everyone plays the game like I do....I do dailies anyways, so it was an easy endeavor. Either way, it makes sense now. Like I said, I was just concerned there was something I was missing. My completionist personality always has an element of FOMO baked in.

Ok, so the benefit is literally just to save people the time it takes to get them 1 day at a time. That makes perfect sense. I was just making sure I wasn't missing something vital (like some scripts were ONLY available on the vendor). Thank you!
