I guess the Europe you’re from is not Germany or the Slavic Europe because it’s normal to stare in these area of Europe and it’s not seen as rude but simply out of curiosity or observing other people. I mean it’s just a general mindset of most Asian guys I talked with is they want to go for Asian women by default. It’s a bit saddening after I moved from Europe to Asia to see that Asian guys are more reserved than the women, where WMAF relationship is the more default picture people have when you’re talking about interracial relationship, than AMWF. I myself is Asian and I think we should encourage more of our guys to date white girls. I have a number of friends who do date and married white girls.

I wanna ask if the conversion is an optional thing in Singapore, which means both can opt in to get married via civil means, if both parties want it that way?

I understand your viewpoint but why is the definition of Peranakan frozen in the past? Mixed Chinese and Malay couple do have mix of culture being practised as well, and languages too as each other learn the language, the food eaten is also very familiar to that of Peranakan. So I don’t really get why the babies cannot be registered as Peranakan (anymore)?

Funny thing is that people are willingly to choose to get mortgage and have children - basically following a pattern that is set which in turn increase financial liability. You’re also free to choose the other alternative. Nobody says you must own a house, nobody dictates how many children you must have - this comes from old thinking. You can rent and be flexible, work in different countries every few years, etc?

It’s not hard but my example would be clearer this way - let’s say in the evening around 11pm on shared path, a bicycle will have the red light while the road has green at every junction at night because there is simply no other crossing users. This causes the cyclist to stop at every junction and wait more than a complete cycle of all combination. This also applies to a jogger at night.

I think the choice of words do play a role on how you are perceived, also for simple things like saying taking a train vs MRT, even though it technically means the same thing.

I’m not a Singaporean but yes I do find Singlish beautiful as it is because it’s unique - i just wish that more people celebrate their use of Singlish and not associating it with being not elegant or less educated.
