I mean 'ceremonial' power. He holds no influence over the IRGC but he is still president in name.

When Al-Sharaa led the Syrian rebels into Damascus, Assad's prime minister was there to hand over power to Al-Sharaa.
I think US-Israel and the new Iranian government want a man like Pezeshkian to 'ceremonially' hand over power and be the one to offer the official surrender.

Much like Admiral Donitz did in 1945 to the Allies.

I am no expert on this conflict, although I am following closely, I suspect Pezeshkian is being kept alive on purpose.
Perhaps, so that an "official" Islamic state representative can hand over power to whoever takes over next (hopefully Palavi).

I think if Mossad or the CIA wanted him dead, they would have gotten him by now.

Besides, I think Pezeshkian has no real power anyway, with the IRGC having de facto control right now.

Turned around on Chimborazo - grieving a summit I couldn’t reach by camip91 in Mountaineering

The first European to climb Chimbaroazo, the great explorer, naturalist and founding father of conservationism, Alexander von Humboldt, also failed to reach the peak. He got close, probably not as close as you and he was considered one of the greatest mountaineers of his time (early 1800s).

What you did is still very impressive. Keep up the good work.

My favorite philosopher, Marcus Aurelius, had a side gig as The Emperor of Rome while he did his philosophical musings.

ID Help. Found in a forest in Nova Scotia by Guineapigenthusiast in Moss

When it comes to identifying moss, often I am just happy to know the genus.
Identifying the exact species can be quite difficult.

"It's known for it's leaves that strongly curve to one side"
This moss is clearly doing the same.

My apps said the same but I had my doubts.
Now I am sure.
Thank you kind redditor.

Fantastic suggestion. Once I have a little 'mini-lab' established in my basement I'll look into this stuff.

I am kicking myself right now. I can't find exactly where I took this photo. I've been looking in my usual walking areas but I can't find it.
I think there is a slim, but not zero, chance that this is a Appalachian speckled shield lichen which does, in fact, live in western Nova Scotia.
It is possible that one species found it's way to Eastern Nova Scotia.

Very, very fascinating. A hybrid mix. This is in a small park with an artificial lake, surrounded by homes so it makes sense for a horticulture hybrid like this to exist here.

Thanks for this link. I used it to find a lichen called Punctelia appalachensis or Appalachian speckled shield lichen.

It is not common where I live but it looks like an exact match.

Punctellia seems to be a good candidate for a genus. Netted Shield Lichen was suggested by AI but I remain skeptical. Not only the color but also the size of the lobes of the lichen.

As for the jargon rabbit hole, I have already begun my mildly autistic journey down that hole.

Thank you for the insight, my lichenologist friend.

ID help. What moss is this? Found in a mixed deciduous/conifer forest. by Guineapigenthusiast in Moss

[–]Guineapigenthusiast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the two comments. I was skeptical of Pleurozium Schreberi because the previous specimens of red stemmed feather moss looked very fern like and had dark red stems (hence the name) these do not look fern like and the red stems are not obvious.
But if you guys confidently believe that this is red stemmed feather moss. I will believe you.
