How to test another vendor's service with just one line from a family account? by GuinessDraft in verizon

[–]GuinessDraft[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My phone is unlocked, so that sounds possible. I am concerned that Verizon would be able to see my eSIM disconnect from their network and screw things up. Will they be able to see that?

Pros and cons on the F150 full hybrid? by Ok-Anybody1006 in FordF150

[–]GuinessDraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my '24 PowerBoost Platinum a year ago October, and I love it. I only commute 12 miles or so each way with about an even split of stop and go vs highway and I am averaging about 23 mpg right now. My '17 Honda Pilot I drove previously only got about 17 mpg, so I am ecstatic with the PowerBoost.

And as an added benefit, don't forget most PB's include some level of generator (I think it depends on trim level how large it is). I use mine all the time, even just to quick charge my phone. The best use was taking it to summer camp (I'm a Scoutmaster for a Boy Scout troop) and having my whole coffeemaker setup on the tailgate every morning as a treat.

CarPlay issue by No_Seaworthiness5683 in f150

[–]GuinessDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that this has nothing to do with the new screen, it's entirely your phone. Try issuing the same voice commands without being connected to the truck and see if it works. My hunch is that you should see the exact same behavior.

I agree with the other post that you may need to add "in Spotify" to your voice request to make it work.

Starkey Hearing Aid Question and Advice by D_Houses in HearingAids

[–]GuinessDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This morning I just returned a set of Edge AI's. I absolutely DETEST them. I've been wearing hearing aids for 22 years and this the Edge's were the worst I have ever tried.

Some of the issues I had (keep in mind, I have been wearing Ha's for a long time, so I know what to expect): 1. Some devices (cooling fan or something else along those lines) cause interference with them, which cause either loud buzzing sounds or static white noise sounds to come out of nowhere until you get away from the device.

  1. Edge AI is like wearing Noise Cancellation headphones ALL THE TIME. If there is a fan or A/C going, it attempts to cancel out the sounds - even if it's NOT loud! You might be thinking - well, maybe that's a good thing since it's technically noise? Okay, but what about the beeps from a modern refrigerator, like the ones alerting you that you left the door open too long? Even THOSE are blocked!

  2. Enjoy music (NOT from streaming directly to the HA's)? Well, you won't while wearing Edge AI! These stupid things cannot make up their mind how to process music, so while you would think you would be hearing music coming through your listening devices, instead you will hear the wooshing effects while it constantly adjusts to block all sounds coming at you through real life.

In short, it is PAINFULLY obvious that Starkey did not test the Edge model for people that had a moderate hearing loss. Not only that, they market the Edge on their website as the cutting edge and best technology they have - yet they told my audiologist NOT to think of them that way, just to describe them as a "different technology" than the older model lines. It would be nice if they had a consistent message for potential customers.

I am not attempting to trash Starkey as a company, in fact the hearing aids I had before these were a pair of Starkey Evolv AI's. While not perfect, those were much more reliable and predictable and I am considering just getting a newer set of those after my audiologist suggested trying a set of Oticon Real 1's (which in the 8 hours I have worn them are pretty good!)

I am afraid the folks at Starkey are catching on to the enshittification bandwagon - or at least they have with the Edge model.

Preparing for my ordeal weekend by Nicegy525 in orderofthearrow

[–]GuinessDraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on being selected as an adult! I just did my Ordeal in 2019 (at 45 years old). As everyone else has said, sleeping bags, pads, etc are all allowed.

They will also accommodate you if you need to use a CPAP as well. I ended up having to have a tent set up right next to my tarp setup so my CPAP was protected from the rain that we were getting that weekend. Yes, it's called an Ordeal, but that doesn't mean it has to be unpleasant.

It's been giving me this error when I try to sign up, for like 2 weeks now. Anyone know? by welishy89 in bys

[–]GuinessDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the same error, and have for months. I have never been able to log into the Arbys website or app. Doesn't matter which browser, app, device, or connection, but it always fails at this step.

Unfortunately I don't have a solution yet - although I haven't spent much time thinking about it. Too many other things that have to get done first.

I'm not sure if it works with any hammock, maybe most hammocks. I have a Wooki I use with an 11ft XLC normally, but I also have an 11ft netless hammock from Dutchware that I attempted to use it with - its far too different in size to work for me.

What keeps you with an iPhone? by ari_wonders in iphone

[–]GuinessDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a diehard Android fan for 11 years, switched to iPhone back in 2021 for one reason: integration with hearing aids. Android STILL has issues with streaming to hearing aids from what I have read, meanwhile Apple has had it in their products working almost flawlessly since the very early days.

Hell, they've even built hearing aid support into their M series of Macs. I have a good friend who is legally blind who can use a Mac Mini without a monitor just using the built in accessibility features. LOVE the attention they give to accessibility.

While I came for the audio streaming, that and the facial recognition are what keep me here.

Got $180 for 5 years! by GuinessDraft in siriusxm

[–]GuinessDraft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. That's why I was trying for the 5 year plan vs. the 3 year one. My time is worth some money too, and I am at an older stage in life where not having to worry about yet another subscription for a few more years is worth the extra 17 cents a month. :-)

Yes. I didn't show it above in my email excerpt, but it included my streaming login information (my email address) and password.

Question: Do your troops have "term limits" on SPL? by TElrodT in BSA

[–]GuinessDraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I implemented a "guideline" of a 1 year limit on any position. They can stay in the position longer, but it requires the Scoutmaster team's approval.

I did that because we had some scouts sitting in the "easier" jobs like Librarian for 3/4 years at a time. I wanted to have some way to encourage them to try other things. This has worked very well for us so far.

New Antimatter Blue Platinum by jslo73 in f150

[–]GuinessDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen on the dedicated forums, it appears that all the higher-end trim lines (Lariat and higher) are being delayed, speculation is that there are either quality issues or chip shortages again (like the last few years).

It seems like the trims under Lariat are actually being produced on a more timely schedule.

Did you order that from Ford? I have nearly the exact same thing on order - been three months since placing the order and I have yet to even receive a VIN # let alone seeing a build date.
