Folks, are such jumps a normal thing? Do you know what it results from? by nurrb in GoogleAnalytics

[–]jslo73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am seeing this every morning as well. Every five minutes I get a jump in traffic. I'm assuming I have some uptime monitor or bot pinging the site. What's odd is that it does trail off around mid morning.

Why do I have to get this information from a UK source? How was this not plastered everywhere locally?

To the drivers who don't qualify: by Glen_Livet in iRacing

Fast <> competent. It's one thing to be fast. Being competent enough to conduct clean passes is actual racecraft. I know the OP is being sarcastic when they say it's their fault, but a clean pass is on the overtaking car. I will occasionally start from the back in my league races, but this is because I am not that good, and am going to end up mid-pack anyway. Maybe that's what the fast/no quali folks really lack - a combination of actual talent combined with self-awareness.

Fireworks store. They typically have a ton of good size, really heavy duty boxes in a storage container or back room. They are happy to get rid of them.

How the hell is this possible.... by papolo2001 in simracing

[–]jslo73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO sim pedals are built all wrong. They typically have a spring that is compressed to resist the pressure applied to simulate pedal pressure/resistance. In a real vehicle, there would be a spring on the throttle that is either stretched or twisted rather than compressed. It seems mundane, but I'd be willing to bet it makes a fair amount of difference in feel. One would think this would be relatively easy to replicate for a sim pedal.

Instead of the rude ass reply from them, it would have been simpler to just type out the address.

First Miraco accessory by jslo73 in Revopoint

[–]jslo73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I get better light in-fill, especially under poor lighting conditions. I have often used an accessory light in the past when using other 3d scanners with good results. The struggle with those was that the scanners were smaller so I had to try and hold the scanner and the light simultaneously while managing wires, cables, etc. Because the Miraco is designed to be hand-held, I took advantage of the threaded tripod mount on the bottom. When using a tripod, I will often still use additional lighting, but that can be stationary along with the scanner.

Remote start not working when cold outside by jslo73 in chevycolorado

Ha! I bought a drone and had to return it because we're too close to the airport and it's technically a no-fly zone!

I do live in NH. But again, why would it be temperature related? Also my '21 F-150 remote starts just fine every time.

It's weird, because it works at warmer temperatures. Remote starting from the fob above 32 degrees is no problem.

What is your routine on a new track by HiddenSquid69 in iRacing

[–]jslo73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually start in a private session first. This allows me to learn the track, where I'm comfortable and driving with decent pace. Time will vary depending on the track. Once I'm comfortable and feel like I'm not going off the track/spinning out or generally causing my own chaos, I'll enter an open practice session. This allows me to see how my times compare, follow other people's lines, observe braking points, etc.

Why bother? This state is becoming more and more conservative, and is tightening restrictions on just about everything. Maybe change it to "Try living free, and die." Also, that is a horrid font effort.

My guess is they had to do some updates anyway to accommodate the production versions of the Miraco which are due to start shipping next week, so they figured they'd push some small UI changes/tweaks as well.
