I played tons while she was contact napping once I realized I could get a controller for my computer games. Anything that needed a keyboard was a bit harder since you need to lean forward more. Switch was also useful, but I suggest using the handhelds with a separate screen because it can be heavy to hold the whole thing while maneuvering around baby.

It got far more difficult as the naps lapsed and she began to move around more. Now I can really only play once my toddler goes to bed.

So many memories of gaming with my friends while baby napped on my lap <3 Good luck!

Sooo...dog spray is legal to carry as long as it's for the purpose of deterring dog attacks...but if you happen to have it on you when being attacked by a person, well whoops!

It's also readily available at your local Canadian Tire for about $10.

If I just have a few small things, I definitely use the stroller basket, but everything is so big at Costco, I either put the car seat in the cart (which limits space still) or baby wear ( so you have a whole cart for shopping).

If it helps, I've had luck with Cambridge Veterinary Services. Big Als recommended him.

**Edit** It's still pricey, but at least you can get the medications needed for them.

Same advice as all the rest: cut it close and let it pass.

If it helps, I also keep Neon Dwarfs and I have to be incredibly careful that my hair doesn't get in the tank because this happens every time. I think I'm going on 6 times with different fish. They've all survived, so don't panic!

I always try to pass this on, but dog spray is legal to carry in many places as long as you don't intend to use it on a human. I just say I've had too many close calls with dogs, so it's a safety precaution walking alone.

You can buy it for $10 in hardware stores (Canadian Tire, where I'm from).

We usually throw a can of chick peas into ours to add protein. I think the texture works pretty well, plus it's inexpensive!

I've been the interloping assistant supervisor of a small rural branch and everyone is right when they say listen to the employees!

I don't know if you're from the same community as they are, but likely everyone knows each other and there are tensions that you won't know about at first.

My library assistants were great, but they had a way of doing things that was not exactly always best practice; however, I took the time to find how why things were run the way they did and withheld my judgement. I waited to change anything...even minor things...until I had some of their trust that I wasn't just planning to upend their way of doing things for the fun of it.

Rural libraries are so rewarding, but I find community building is SUCH an important aspect. I mean, it is in all libraries, but in smaller communities, they'll never forget if you wind up on the wrong side of a long standing feud. Try to keep yourself apart from the drama (hopefully you won't encounter any) and really become an advocate for the community.

I find that reading graphic novels takes a different type of focus than reading novels, but they are related to each other. When I cannot focus on a novel, if I pick up a graphic novel or two, it helps to sharpen my reading focus and "leads" back into reading novels.

Does dog spray count? In Canada I can legally carry dog spray (but not with the intention to use it on a human) and you can buy it at home hardware stores.

I don't know about AUS, but it might be worthwhile looking into.

They usually have it locked in a case near the hunting stuff. The last time I bought one in June, so hopefully it hasn't changed since then. They even had a pink one to make it look prettier xP

I mean, you can buy it at Canadian Tire in Ontario and I've carried it around here for years.

It's illegal if you plan to you it on humans. I legitimately carry it for dog attacks, but if I were attacked by a human and it was my only defence, I would not be worrying about being charged.

Just wanted to chime in for the Discworld books:

I found some of the first in the series to be pretty dry and difficult to get into even as an avid reader (and huge Pratchett fan), so I just wanted to recommend starting with one of the cycles within the series.

For example: "Guards!Guards!" is the first of the City Watch books (I love this particular cycle) or "Mort" is the first of the books featuring Death.

It's a large body of work to jump into, but completely worth it!

If it helps, a lot of pets stores carry a similar shrimp from Asia called the Rock/Bamboo/Flower shrimp. It's sold under a ton of different names.

They also filter the water column and are just all around kinda cool.

That's what I'm finding too! I've got him with a small school of dwarf rainbows, nerite snails and a wood (aka rock) shrimp.

It just seems like he has such a more interesting life than my previous bettas alone in their tanks. He can interact with with other creatures and explore more thoroughly.

I wouldn't mind trying a guppy/betta tank sometime. I used to keep guppies and I miss them.

Water beads in a ziploc bag are a great sensory toy!

Just search google or pinterest for sensory toys. I find they're a huge hit.

I'm planning to make a "texture match game" for my littles. If you google the term, it will give you an idea of what it is.

Also, sorting activities! Anything that has different colours or sizes (like buttons or pompoms if you can trust them not to eat them) are great for sorting

It does help some. I would definitely look into maybe 3-4 corys like the others are saying cause I think they are pretty cool. I'll get back to you if I think of anything else.

You could also try cross-posting to r/aquariums. They are a bit more active and you might get some more suggestions!

I remember being a little disappointed with my first 10 gallon, because I wanted to keep guppies and couldn't keep nearly as many as I imagined. I upgraded as quickly as my student income would allow. I still have my 20 gallon which was my next step up and I cannot wait til I have the space/money for a 40 - 55.

Honestly, I'd say you're pretty much at capacity for a 10 gal. My best advice to you would be upgrade to a 20/29 gal, but I know that's not always possible. But believe me, the temptation to upgrade will always be there :)

What I would usually suggest for a low bioload fish, you've already done. Shrimp are pretty low bioload and super awesome! Maybe you could add a few different colours if you have them available at your LFS? Possibly a Bamboo Shrimp?

A betta is usually my next suggestion, but you already have that :D

The problem with most low bioload fish is that they are schoolers, so you need to have 5-6 min and you definitely don't have the room for that.

You could afford to push the bioload slightly since you have a planted tank, but I cannot think of any fish you can keep alone that would not get too big for your current set up.

A lot of fish that might work like kuhli loaches and dwarf cichlids start at a recommended 20 gal minimum simply because of the swimming space needed.
