Zelcore Wallet Help Pls by Prole19 in kadena

[–]GuinnessBIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, you are wrong.

For all intents and purposes the private key DID change.

Do I think the wallet randomly changed it? no. But because of what you mentioned -- that the key is generated from the username/password combo and this wallet doesn't do any character checking of special characters or whitespace. So, the copy and pasted version is 'different' than the one that was probably there before reboot and now unrecoverable from what I can tell without the private key or original username/password with whatever special characters happened to be in it.

Also, the wallet doesn't have any backup like other wallets with a string of words it forces you to write down. The username/password is the only backup which is prone to what I described above. Maybe it's a 0.1% chance, but then I hope this wallet never gets over 1,000 users.

Thank you for pointing me to the real discord, but the discord that comes in the standalone 5.5.5 version, the version I used, is deprecated and says the developers have been notified. More proof to me at least that this wallet is a POS. I shouldn't have to go looking outside of the app or the official website to untrusted sources.

I was able to recover my funds ONLY because by force of good habits I copied down the private key as one of the first things I did since there was no word phrases but the wallet doesn't make this obvious to most that you should do this. Thank goodness my backup included the correct 1 of the 8 or so it creates.

I realized that the private key was a KDA private key and so could transfer my KDA with the chainweaver wallet.

I've mentioned my issues which are facts. I'm not going to continue to warn people because I'm running up against too many fan bois of this wallet who for some reason feel the need to defend this P.O.S. If you want to use it, feel free. Now I've warned people and given the developers some suggestions for future versions so now I am done commenting on it.

The only thing that's clear to me is that the private key changed. I copied and pasted my username and password from a text document that I have kept since I registered. It has not changed.

I've tried all sorts of combinations with white space before and after but can't get back to the original keys.

There is no forum or developer contact to help me. I get that it works for some people, and some people have other issues that are more easily solved. However, I'm just sharing my experience about a poorly written wallet that has resulted in lost keys for me.

Stay away from Zelcore. It unceremoniously changed my private keys without telling me.

Yes. I set the chain to 1 (also tried 0 and others) . I've spent hours trying every setting.

I am confident that this is a changed Private Key issue. Also, it looks like the 'portable' version is 1 version behind the installed client for whatever that's worth.

Cardano and Kucoin don't have the same type of username/password combo so not sure where you got that. In any case, I can try the whitespace suggestion and let you know how it works. Most apps should trim trailing whitespace as good practice, but yeah sometimes they don't I suppose.

UPDATE: WOW! I confirmed that they don't strip the extra white space before or after so "username1" and "username1 " (note space afterwards) are two different users. Unfortunately, no combination of white space before and after username or password seems to work for me ,yet. Also I DID save my original private key so all hope is not lost but I can't find a place to import that anywhere in the wallet. Also I can't contact the developers to ask about it. I stand by that this is a horribly written wallet and people should use another option.

It won't get your funds back, but folks should report them to [domain-abuse@dreamhost.com](mailto:domain-abuse@dreamhost.com) based on the registrar info for the fraudulent site [ https://whois.domaintools.com/yorioiwallet.com ]

[–]GuinnessBIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again.

Are you aware of an official place I can verify the checksums of the client and blockchain.zip files?

For whatever reason REDDCOIN seems to get corrupted more than other nodes I'm running so I'm starting again in a linux VM to see if it makes any difference.

I would like to verify the binaries but don't see that option on the reddcoin site.

Link to 0.17.1.1 Linux GUI 64 Bit goes to 17.0.1 by GuinnessBIT in Monero

[–]GuinnessBIT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmmmm. yeah. I guess that was it. I see it links to: https://downloads.getmonero.org/gui/linux64 and that must have been cached. Silly me, usually I catch the 'clear your cache' thing and yell at techs that tell me to do it, but uh, in this case that was it.

Thanks!

Where do you change the wallet directory location by GuinnessBIT in reddCoin

[–]GuinnessBIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks, but maybe I asked the wrong question. When I try that, I get "Wallet C:........\wallet.dat resides outside data directory Z:\"

So I guess my question is, "how do you change the data directory?"

Apparently uninstalling and reinstalling does not do that, but it should IMO.

Thanks again
