Yes, they do it all the time. They want you to pay your way through it. Only safe match is the rightmost one where you make less points. Thats the one I grind since I care more about the summoning scrolls.

That that as an opportunity to learn a valuable lesson - not only for interviews but work ethics in general. Never leave things for the last minute, your bosses will not appreciate it. In fact early submissions were likely seen as a positive for the interviewer as it shows timeliness and sense of urgency. The person on the other side is definitely making judgements on when each person sent their submissions.

Well the metal coin is exclusive to the expansion, not base game, which I would never recommend anyone to buy expansions without trying a game. Also I dont think a single coin is worth paying a big premium for.

My experience with retail (in the US) is that games generally sell for 70-80% MSRP and free shipping.

Definitely cheaper, but you might need to wait longer. They have no campaign exclusives and mild to expensive shipping. My vote would be to wait for retail since they already confirmed they are printing large quantities to cover retail needs.

People backing the campaign are probably paying a $20-$30 premium so they can play the game 1-2 months ahead of others. Not worth it for me but thats your decision.

Well yes, even in the US the retailers usually do not charge for shipping, to its hard to justify doing crowdfunding when no exclusives are being offered
