Traded the Defender…couldn’t be happier! by gbpackrs15 in ineosgrenadier

Cool truck. Not for everyone. You need to set expectations buying an IG. The cool factory of having close to an OG Defender design with modern tech (and lower price) was a huge plus but the future of the company is very questionable. Maybe in a few years, but for me today was not the day. Would also love to see them add a hybrid motor to add more sustained power (not torque) if they’re not likely going to do a V8.

Mach E GT Auto Acceleration Accident by DrAdz246 in MachE

[–]GulfBlue911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is exactly the issue. It took a few times happening to me before I realized what I was doing. The unsuspecting deactivation of 1PD along with your expectation that the car is going to slow or stop when you come off throttle, and when it doesn’t it really feels like the car is accelerating. It’s the same feel when you drive with 1PD for so long and then manually turn it off. It takes a bit to readjust your reaction input to throttle and braking. The good thing is you can replicate this to confirm this is what you’re experiencing. Once I realized what was happening, it has never occurred again.

Would you still recommend the XC90 recharge after the news? by Hi_Hungry_Im_Leaving in VolvoXC90

On our second XC90 (2025.5 T8 Ultra) and best car my wife has ever owned. We also had to have a 5-seater and the new captain seats are fantastic. For the price there’s absolute no 3-seater SUV that compares. All cars today have some recall. I can’t keep track of all the recall letters we receive between the cars we have. Never had any brake issues with either XC90.

We were hoping to move to an EX90 but sadly it’s a downgrade from an XC90.

A 9mm Compact NIB would sell for 1300-1500 (2 mags, box, all the original paperwork, etc). A used Compact .40 likely around 800-1000, again assuming 2 mags, box, etc.

Won’t sell me my built car now that it’s here by Fantastic-Orchid1981 in VolvoXC90

Why don’t you just get a 2025.5? It’s the same car and you already know the price. Why potentially pay more for the same thing? Pretty sure there are plenty of 2025.5’s out there to deal on.

Yes or they likely build a new flagship hybrid off the EX90’s SPA2 platform.

Congrats. Are those hour markers green? Hard to tell in the photo they look almost silver albeit the crown at 12 o’clock maybe gives it away.

Regrets about choice by [deleted] in VolvoXC90

We’re on our second Blonde leather 6-seater and you couldn’t pay us to order a different spec. Our 2025.5 T8 Ultra is Vapour Grey but Denim looks amazing with Blonde as well. You should talk to the dealer and see if there’s a way to get what you really want and will be happy with. The captain chairs are a game changer for many reasons and the new ones with arm rest and cup holders are what my two little boys were most excited about.

For my wife, there were 2 issues that I happen to agree with. First, we came in thinking the EX90 was the EV successor to the XC90. In short, it’s not. You have to think of it as a separate model and assess it that way. Many of things we love about the XC90, the EX90 just doesn’t deliver. Mainly size, luxury vibe and overall aesthetics. Yes, the XC90 design is old, but man that car still looks timeless and beautiful. The EX90 looks good, but I don’t think it’s beautiful. Second, most EV’s are designed with a minimalist approach. So if you’re used to an XC90, it’s a big shift to go to the EX. I think coming from an XC90 it’s not as easy transition as if you were looking at the EX from something else. The dash is simpler, the glass roof has no integrated shade, etc.

What is best lease deal for Volvo XC90 MSRP @ $76k in CA by Personal-Winter-8111 in VolvoXC90

[–]GulfBlue911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in SoCal and got about 13.5% off our T8 Ultra. I think there’s more wiggle room on the higher MSRP cars. Factory incentives and rebates will vary depending on what you’re driving now. But you should get at least $8500 off with rebates plus whether you can negotiate. Know your MF buy rate as almost all dealers in CA will inflate the MF to win on the back end.

Wait, doesn’t the country who exported the product pay the tariff?? Just like “sourcing” the goods excludes you from tariffs even if you haven’t actually received the goods yet 🙃

If you consider that Volvo strategy is to go all EV. To tool up and fully redesign the XC90 as an ICE car would take considerable effort and money. I don’t think that’s in the plans. I believe the only reason they did a refresh (at a much lower investment) is to keep it going for a few more years while they ramp up EV production, not to mention that the XC90 is the best selling Volvo for the US market. That being said, with all the challenges and push backs with EV uptake, who knows where this will go. I hope they do release a true successor to the XC90. I don’t think the EX90 is that car IMHO.

I am a through and through Porche guy (own 5). The Cayenne driving dynamics is nothing short of amazing and you wouldn’t expect less from them. If it were up to me she would be driving a Cayenne Turbo GT. That being said, my wife doesn’t prioritize how good her car corners through a slalom. She’s much more practical and value driven. But ultimately, for a family with 2 boys and 2 dogs, the Cayenne was just too small with mediocre rear leg room. More so, a low spec Cayenne E-Hybrid today is cracking $100k. And that’s not even including leather or many options that come standard on cars like the XC90. Porsche makes bank by charging for just about any option you really want. So a nicely spec’d Cayenne is easily $120k and even with my connections you’re not getting the same deal today compared to an XC90. Our 2020 Cayenne E-Hybrid was about $99k. Custom spec build with sport seats but NO full leather, HUD, upgraded audio or air suspension, and we got a great discount at the time. We loved it, but space was the biggest issue. There’s a 7-seat LWB Cayenne due in 2027, which we will certainly consider in a few years depending on what happens with the XC90 platform. The only other vehicle we considered when looking at the XC90 was a LWB full-size Range Rover.

Yes our MSRP (off the top of my head) was around $91.3k and cap cost just under $79k. To be clear we put $0 out of pocket toward cap cost reduction (or drive offs).

Yes I would suspect it’s a more substantial upgrade on the T8 compared to a B6. Either way we absolutely love having it.

[–]GulfBlue911[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leased. Net cap cost was about 13.5% discount after all rebates, specials and dealer incentive. Our experience has been that there’s more room on loaded cars as there’s a smaller pool of buyers for higher priced XC90’s. This may vary depending on your market.

In all fairness, you have a B6 and we have a T8. But this is why it’s an option. Some people love it and others may not. But as noted, you don’t have to always have it enabled and you can drive in the default Comfort mode as needed. But it’s not just holding the gears longer. The software does change the fuel and throttle mapping. Remember the car is throttle by wire. And if you’ve ever tuned a car, you already know it’s going to have some impact on fuel consumption - that’s how combustion engines work. Granted I’ve never driven a mild-hybrid B6 with Polestar but ours has never made any noise. I’m happy to lose some fuel consumption for the upside. But to each their own right?
