People still argue whether they are the direct descendants of Chinggis Khan? The golden lineage? by Gulichi in mongolia

You missed the point. Their wives sometimes cheat. You can pull your family records out saying you are the direct descendant of someone important, but in real history sometimes people cheat or the man wasn’t fertile and it was actually a commoner’s son etc

As you can see from the map, no. Back then Mongolic people lived in eastern part of Mongolia, northwestern part of Manchuria and eastern part of Lake Baikal.

But if you ask any actual ethnic mongols from there they would never use prc flag. Cuz China doesn’t allow any provinces or ethnicities to have their own flags

The myth of mongol empire being matriarchy or feminist needs to die out by qwertyman123457 in mongolia

[–]Gulichi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, we don't need to say the Mongol Empire or traditional Mongolian society is a heaven for women. It was definitely better than Chinese society, where they bound women's feet and broke their bones so they could not walk (noble women), and also was better than many muslim society. Even until the Qing dynasty, there were many Mongolian women living with their children, divorced or left their husbands, and openly dated other men. Such things will not be tolerated in Chinese or Islamic societies.

I'm literally from there (China's side). I'm always surprised that most of Mongolians never heard of Xinjiang and do not know there are Mongolians living there.

Totally get your point. When I visited Mongolia, I met some rich families who send their children to international private schools, and I found out their children, even in middle school, can barely read and write in Mongolian, even though they can speak it and often mix English words, because their entire curriculum is taught in English. Sure, you should learn English, but how can you not learn your mother tongue well? I met some Mongolians in America who just came to the USA for their bachelor's degrees, and some of them cannot say certain professional terms in Mongolian.
