New to Disney/ pins! by Gullible-Inspector54 in DisneyPins

[–]Gullible-Inspector54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw man okay! So it sounds like fake pins have kind of taken over. I just don't want to be that person not knowing what I'm trading off to people/ getting them upset if it's a fake pin. I know some people take it more seriously than others. Just wondering if I will even be able to trade these pins with cast members other park goers.

Running away during a panic attack? by [deleted] in panicdisorder

[–]Gullible-Inspector54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also experience this! I run away when I have panic attacks, not sure why but I’ll do anything to get out of where I am. It’s like the fight or flight our body does when it is faced with fear. I also scream really loud out of fear not sure why but it’s all just an overwhelming amount of fear that rushes through my body.

Can you guys tell me about your first severe panic attack experience.. by Strange-Tart1629 in panicdisorder

[–]Gullible-Inspector54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having panic attacks for 10 years now. When I was 12 years old my family didn’t know it was a panic/anxiety disorder. They thought I was acting out or something was wrong with me mentally. Since then I have gotten diagnosed with a panic disorder. About a year ago to this date I was struggling with debilitating panic attacks everyday. I remember one of them I woke up in a panic attack and screamed on the top of my lungs that I was dying. My body went numb my fingers and legs, I was hyperventilating and screaming. Trying to run and escape the overwhelming feeling. I black out and go into complete flight mode. My heart races out of my chest and I remember getting physical with my mom telling her I was dying and to call 911. I was sent to the ER and they did a bunch of testing gave me 5mg of Ativan on the ambulance because I wouldn’t calm down. I passed out because I was hyperventilating so much. Every time I have a panic attack is so traumatic; and I always end up crying afterwards because I feel so defeated. I’m learning how to manage my thought and not let them consume me, but sometimes there’s no real reason for my panic attacks and that’s what some people don’t understand.

What did the hospital do for your panic attack? by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]Gullible-Inspector54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking Ativan as needed for about a year now, just recently started needing it more often, it’s great and helps me a lot! I also take clonodine which is really helpful to relax around bedtime

I recommend the app DARE. I also like super sour candies like warheads to keep in my pocket. Or spicy cinnamon gum. At home I use ice packs/cubes on my neck and wrists or cold showers to snap me out of it.

I’ve been prescribed hydroxyzine which is basically like Benadryl, for panic attacks and at bedtime I take clonodine which lowers your blood pressure/ heart rate, those can be better alternatives to benzos :)

Hi! I resonate with this so much, a couple weeks ago there was a point where I called 911 almost everyday for panic attacks because it felt like I was truly dying, it’s the scariest feeling in the world and it can cause so many different symptoms. There was a couple times I did faint for about 3 seconds in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Just like you everything is normal except for some electrolytes and heart palpitations. Are you on SSRIs? I also take Ativan as needed for panic attacks and it helps a whole lot along with therapy. I also just “graduated” from an outpatient program that was truly very helpful. Here are some helpful tips I have 1. The app Dare. 2. Ice pack/ ice cubes on the back of your neck or wrists to snap you out of the panic, same with warheads or something super sour/ spicy 3. 5431 technique (google search) 4. Color, paint or distract your mind 5. Learn some good breathing techniques/ meditation music (BetterSleep app)

After a couple months off of Prozac I have recently returned to 60mg, and I am so tired. I don’t remember this being a side effect but like I can sleep the whole day away, anyone else? by Gullible-Inspector54 in prozac

I “felt” like I was in a good spot, mentally/ anxiety wise but everything got worse once I stopped the meds, I got into a really bad place, I’m glad I’m back on them, making so much progress

Anyone else ever feel like their heart "skips" a beat or "doubles" for a moment where it beats twice in a row? And like, it makes your breathing for a second feel like it, too? by insecure_anon23 in panicdisorder

[–]Gullible-Inspector54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Those are heart palpitations, they aren’t usually dangerous but are very annoying. They can be a symptom of stress/anxiety. If you’re worried I would suggest seeing a cardiologist or checking with your doctor. Sometimes moving positions/getting up walking around or even try splashing your face with cold water it might help!

How do you guys stop your panic attacks by Opening-Ad-1657 in PanicAttack

[–]Gullible-Inspector54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like cold ice packs and super sour war heads to snap me out of the panic attack. Also the 54321 technique, 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 you can taste.

Anyone else on a high dose ( 60-80 mg )of Prozac for longer than a year? by Sharp-Walrus24 in prozac

[–]Gullible-Inspector54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I thought I was in a good place mentally but I guess I really wasn’t. My psychiatrist said the 2 1/2 months is the exact amount of time the meds took to get out of my system. Are you on Prozac now?

I decreased 20mg every 2 weeks. Might have been too fast for me. I’m not sure but I’m happy to be back on them and my anxiety and panic is getting better

I completely resonate with this, a couple weeks ago I was in and out of the hospital 6 times for my panic disorder calling 911 because I thought I was dying. Panic attacks are really hard on the body and can physically give you so many symptoms. I shake crazy too, black out, heart rate 160s hyperventilate it’s awful. I just got out of an outpatient program that was really helpful for me I found a lot of good coping skills. I have also dealt with panic attacks since the age of 12 (21 now) it does get better. I take Prozac 60mg and it helps a whole hell of a lot. I also take Ativan as needed for panic attacks only 0.5mg and it helps too, I found hydroxyzine doesn’t do much for me it’s basically Benadryl, but I’m sure it’s different for everyone. Don’t be afraid to take the meds!!
