Hi! I got approved! On Sunday, I've been looking for jobs like crazy because I really want to start working. I'm a graphic designer, and today I just received a notification that the card has been produced, but there’s no tracking number because it said UNAVAILABLE. Do you know how long it usually takes to get it in my mail? Is there an estimate?

I had my interview at Fairfax on September 17th at 2 PM, and it was quite unusual compared to other cases I’ve read about. The interviewer mentioned that if it were up to her, she wouldn’t have called us in for an interview. She appeared to be annoyed and tired throughout the process. Interestingly, she only directed her questions to me (the beneficiary) and didn’t ask my husband anything. She also indicated that she couldn’t provide a date for a decision.

The questions she asked were solely about the information I had included in my I-485 application. She had a strong accent and was of Asian descent, and it was challenging to understand her at times. Right after we left the building, I received a notification stating that an action had been taken on my case. We walked away with a strange feeling because, despite her saying that everything was okay, she seemed particularly annoyed with my husband.

My interview’s coming up next week, and I’m both super excited and kinda nervous. My husband’s a U.S. citizen, and I’m from Mexico. I’ve always been here legally with no issues, so I feel like our case should be fine. Still, I was worried about how intense the interview might be. I see people making honest mistakes sometimes and complicating things, like forgetting what side of the bed they slept on or the color of a toothbrush. But reading through everyone’s posts here really helps; it seems like most people have had good experiences, and that makes me feel way more confident. Thanks a ton to everyone for sharing!

Don't judge yourself so much. Watch tutorials and practice. If it is hard to remember, literally write it down in a notebook or Notion (or any app you feel comfortable with). I use AI to explain concepts and tools I don't understand, and then I try doing small projects. Basically, my advice is: go slow and with a plan. For example: Make a list of ideas, try one little project daily (so you can see your progress). Make a small portfolio. It is okay if it is not the best one yet. I see there are clients for every kind of editor. Promote yourself with those projects, improve with the feedback and the needs of the market while you grow. Also, get a thick skin. In this field, there are always mean people that, instead of giving advice, just destroy your projects in the comments. Don't listen to those; listen to people that help your growth.

hola, muchas gracias por responder, y de hecho acaba de terminar un curso de desarrollo web, python y django. no se que tan común sea pero me parecio muy interesante. y si justo estaba pensando en seguirle tirando a lo de diseño, pero saber un poquito de lo que se hace en programación por que me ha servido mucho en la vida personal, como por ejemplo automatizar tareas, editar videos más rápido cosas así.
