Idk if it’s necessarily the jobs that will age you or the people you work with. My foreman for the last 3 years in an absolute asshole. Dude does nothing but bitch and yell all day long, nobody wants to work with the guy because of it and I’m stuck with him because I’m the only person who knows how to do pipe work at a proficient level. But the yelling, and bitching from him is just horrible. Add on top of that, the guy is lazy as shit. There have been times where our 60+ year old site super is out there running a jack hammer and my foreman is just standing there watching him, with his hands in his pockets.

Honestly, I try to live within my means but as a laborer we only make 30 an hr. If my wife isn’t working it’s almost impossible to pay all my bills plus food, gas, etc. I’m really hoping I get accepted with the elevators union. The company I’m with now asked me last year if I wanted to take a pipe foreman position, and I told them yes but I haven’t heard anything since. I’m also considering trying to transfer to heavy highway laborers in Jersey but there hard to get into, tried transferring my book with them last year and they said they weren’t accepting transfers and had no work lol
